Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

The PMI Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP) is PMI's specialist credential in project risk management. It is designed for risk managers, senior project managers, PMO analysts and consultants who identify, assess and respond to risk on projects and programmes, and want a globally recognised credential that sets them apart.

    General

What is the PMI-RMP certification and who is it for?

The PMI Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP) is PMI's specialist credential in project risk management. It is designed for risk managers, senior project managers, PMO analysts and consultants who identify, assess and respond to risk on projects and programmes, and want a globally recognised credential that sets them apart.

Is the PMI-RMP worth it for professionals in Karlsruhe?

Yes. Karlsruhe employers in energy, IT, banking and engineering run high-stakes programmes where structured risk management is essential. The credential is linked to a reported pay uplift of around 14 percent, and certified risk specialists remain scarce relative to demand across Baden-Wurttemberg.

Is PMP required before taking the PMI-RMP?

No. PMP is not a prerequisite for the PMI-RMP. You can apply directly based on your project risk management experience and education. Many holders do carry both, as the credentials are complementary, but they are not dependent on each other.

How long is the PMI-RMP certification valid?

The PMI-RMP is valid for three years. To maintain it, you earn 30 PDUs in risk management topics within each three-year continuing certification requirements (CCR) cycle and pay the renewal fee to PMI.

Which standard is the PMI-RMP course based on?

The course is built on the current PMI-RMP Examination Content Outline (ECO), effective January 2022, alongside PMI's Practice Standard for Project Risk Management and the PMBOK Guide. It covers risk management across predictive, agile and hybrid delivery.

    Pricing

How much does PMI-RMP training cost in Karlsruhe?

Training fees vary by format and schedule, so pricing is available on request. The fee covers instructor-led sessions, PMI-aligned courseware, practice questions and mock exams. The PMI exam fee is billed separately by PMI in USD. Request a quote for current pricing.

What is included in the PMI-RMP course fee?

The fee typically includes 32 contact hours of instructor-led training, PMI-aligned courseware, practice questions, mock exams, application guidance and learner support, plus a course completion certificate. The PMI exam fee is not included.

Is the exam fee included in the training price?

No. PMI bills the PMI-RMP exam fee separately, and rates differ for members and non-members. PMI membership can reduce the exam cost and gives access to the Practice Standard for Project Risk Management. Confirm current fees on pmi.org before applying.

Do you offer group or corporate discounts?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for PMOs, delivery teams and risk functions. Contact us for a tailored quote for your team in Karlsruhe.

    What payment options are available?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, and offer instalment options on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you.

    Exam

What is the format of the PMI-RMP exam?

The PMI-RMP exam is a closed-book, multiple-choice examination based on the PMI-RMP ECO (January 2022). It uses single-answer and multiple-answer questions across five risk domains and can be taken online with Pearson VUE OnVUE proctoring or at a test centre.

How many questions are on the PMI-RMP exam and how long is it?

The exam has 115 questions and you have 2.5 hours (150 minutes) to complete it. The questions are distributed across the five ECO domains, and results are reported with domain-level performance feedback.

What are the PMI-RMP exam domains and their weights?

There are five domains: Risk Strategy and Planning (20%), Risk Identification (20%), Risk Analysis (23%), Risk Response (22%) and Monitor and Close Risks (15%). The training covers all five in line with the ECO.

What is the passing score for the PMI-RMP exam?

PMI does not publish a fixed percentage pass mark. The result is determined through psychometric analysis, and performance is reported per domain as Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement, so aim for broad mastery across all five domains.

What happens if I do not pass the first time?

You have up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period from application approval. Reexamination fees apply to the second and third attempts. Our mock exams and trainer guidance are designed to help you pass on your first attempt.

    Course Content

What topics are covered in the PMI-RMP training?

The training covers the five risk domains: Risk Strategy and Planning, Risk Identification, Risk Analysis, Risk Response, and Monitor and Close Risks, plus qualitative and quantitative tools such as Monte Carlo simulation, decision trees and expected monetary value.

Can a beginner take this course, or do I need prior experience?

You can enrol in the training at any level, and it also delivers the risk management education hours PMI requires. To sit the exam, PMI expects documented project risk management experience, which our application guidance helps you prepare.

What learning resources and materials are provided?

You receive PMI-aligned courseware, practice questions, full-length mock exams, references to the PMI-RMP ECO and Handbook, and templates for risk registers and analysis, all mapped to the five domains.

Does the training satisfy the PMI-RMP education requirement?

The 32 contact hours fully satisfy the 30-hour education requirement for candidates applying under the bachelor's degree pathways (Set B and Set C). Candidates applying with a secondary diploma (Set A) need 40 hours and should add supplementary study.

Is the courseware aligned with the latest PMI-RMP syllabus?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the current PMI-RMP Examination Content Outline, effective January 2022, and PMI's Practice Standard for Project Risk Management, covering predictive, agile and hybrid risk approaches.

    Enrollment

How soon can I start and how do I enrol?

You can enrol through the Invensis Learning website. Choose your preferred format, complete payment, and you receive access to schedules, courseware and resources. See upcoming batches or talk to a learning advisor to begin.

What are the eligibility requirements to sit the PMI-RMP exam?

PMI requires project risk management experience within the last five years plus risk management education: for example, a bachelor's degree with 24 months of experience and 30 hours of education, or a secondary diploma with 36 months and 40 hours. Our team can guide you.

    What training formats are available?

We offer online (live virtual) instructor-led training, classroom training, and customised corporate group training, so you can choose the format that fits your schedule and learning style in Karlsruhe.

Can I reschedule or transfer my enrolment to another batch?

Yes. Flexi options let you reschedule or transfer to another batch where available. Contact our support team to arrange a change that suits you.

What is the refund or cancellation policy?

Refunds and cancellations are handled per our published policy, and selected plans include a money-back option. Reach out to our team for the details that apply to your enrolment.
