Why the RMP Credential Pays OffFor Your Career and Your Team

    For Individuals

    For Individuals

PMI-RMP training helps risk and project professionals prove specialist competency and prepare for the RMP exam. It suits risk managers, senior project managers, PMO analysts and consultants who want a dedicated risk credential beyond broad project management. Whether you are formalising a risk role, moving up from delivery, or advising teams in IT, energy, maritime or financial services, this training builds the capability senior employers expect.

If you want to lead on risk with a credential the market respects, the RMP is a clear next step. You gain domain knowledge, hands-on tools, application support and a structured journey that Hamburg employers value across sectors.

    • Validates specialist risk expertise and sets you apart from general project practitioners

It can be delivered for PMOs, engineering teams, or transformation and delivery groups. For organisations that want fewer surprises on complex projects, the training provides a scalable, consistent way to manage threats and opportunities.

Skills You Will Master in This ProgrammeAcross the Five Risk Domains

This training builds practical, job-ready competency across every stage of the project risk lifecycle. By the end, you can plan, identify, analyse, respond to and monitor risk with confidence, and apply the same tools employers use on real projects.

    Set Risk Strategy and Planning

Skills covered in the PMI-RMP training start here: establish the risk approach, framework and governance for a project. You confirm risk thresholds, assess the project environment with SWOT and PESTLE, and build a fit-for-purpose risk management plan aligned to the delivery approach.

    Identify Threats and Opportunities

Run structured risk identification using brainstorming, the Delphi technique, interviews, checklists and assumption analysis. You document risks in a clear cause-risk-effect format and build a complete risk register across all project areas.

    Analyse Risks Qualitatively and Quantitatively

Prioritise risks with the probability and impact matrix, then apply quantitative methods such as Monte Carlo simulation, decision-tree analysis, sensitivity analysis and expected monetary value to model their effect on cost and schedule.

    Plan and Implement Risk Responses

Develop response strategies for threats (avoid, transfer, mitigate, accept) and opportunities (exploit, share, enhance, accept). You assign owners, define triggers and contingency plans, and integrate responses and reserves into the project baseline.

    Monitor and Close Risks

Track identified, residual and secondary risks against triggers and thresholds, run periodic risk reviews, and report on the risk profile to stakeholders. You close resolved risks and capture lessons learned for future projects.

    Achieve Exam and Application Readiness

Prepare for the 115-question, 2.5-hour RMP exam with practice questions mapped to the January 2022 outline, and get guidance on documenting your risk experience and education hours for the PMI application.

Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

The PMI Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP) is PMI's specialist credential in project risk management. It recognises your ability to assess and identify risks, mitigate threats and capitalise on opportunities. It suits risk managers, senior project and programme managers, PMO analysts and risk consultants.

    General

What is the PMI-RMP certification and who is it for?

The PMI Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP) is PMI's specialist credential in project risk management. It recognises your ability to assess and identify risks, mitigate threats and capitalise on opportunities. It suits risk managers, senior project and programme managers, PMO analysts and risk consultants.

Is the PMI-RMP worth it for professionals in Hamburg?

Yes. Hamburg's maritime, aviation, energy and financial services sectors run complex, high-uncertainty projects where structured risk management is valued. The RMP marks you as a specialist, supports moves into senior risk roles, and is recognised by employers globally. Talk to a learning advisor to plan your path.

Which standard is the PMI-RMP based on?

The exam is based on PMI's Examination Content Outline effective January 2022, and aligns with the Practice Standard for Project Risk Management and the PMBOK Guide. It covers five risk domains and applies to predictive, agile and hybrid delivery.

Do I need a PMP before taking the PMI-RMP?

No. The PMP is not a prerequisite for the RMP. You can apply directly based on your risk management experience and education. Many RMP holders also hold the PMP, as the two credentials are complementary.

How long is the PMI-RMP certification valid?

The RMP is valid for three years. To maintain it, you earn 30 PDUs in risk management topics within each three-year continuing certification requirements cycle, which is fewer than the 60 PDUs required for the PMP.

    Pricing

What is included in the PMI-RMP training fee in Hamburg?

The fee typically includes 32 contact hours of instructor-led training, PMI-aligned courseware, practice questions, mock exams, application guidance and learner support. Request a quote for current pricing and upcoming batches.

How much does the PMI-RMP exam cost?

For reference, PMI charges around USD 520 for members and USD 670 for non-members, billed in USD under regional pricing. Prices can change, so confirm the current fee at pmi.org. PMI membership can lower the exam fee and gives access to the Practice Standard for Project Risk Management.

Is the exam fee included in the course price?

No. The PMI exam fee is paid separately to PMI and is not part of the training fee. Your enrolment covers the instructor-led training, courseware and preparation resources.

Do you offer corporate or group discounts?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for PMOs, engineering teams and delivery groups. Ask about corporate and group pricing for a tailored quote.

What payment methods and instalment options are available?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, and offer instalment options on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you.

    Exam

What if I do not pass the PMI-RMP exam the first time?

You have up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period. Re-examination fees apply to the second and third attempts. Our mock exams, practice questions and trainer support are designed to help you pass with confidence.

How many questions are on the PMI-RMP exam and how long is it?

The RMP exam has 115 questions and a time limit of 2.5 hours (150 minutes). It is closed book and uses multiple-choice questions, including single-answer and multiple-answer formats.

What are the PMI-RMP exam domains and their weights?

There are five domains in the January 2022 outline: Risk Strategy and Planning (20%), Risk Identification (20%), Risk Analysis (23%), Risk Response (22%), and Monitor and Close Risks (15%).

What is the passing score for the PMI-RMP exam?

PMI does not publish a fixed pass mark. The result is set through psychometric analysis, and performance is reported by domain as Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement, so aim for broad mastery across all five domains.

Where can I take the PMI-RMP exam?

You can sit the exam online through Pearson VUE's OnVUE proctoring, or at a Pearson VUE test centre. Scheduling is done via PMI's portal or the Pearson VUE website within your eligibility window.

What are the eligibility requirements for the PMI-RMP?

There are three routes. With a secondary diploma: 36 months of risk experience in the last 5 years plus 40 hours of risk education. With a four-year degree: 24 months plus 30 hours. With a GAC-accredited degree: 12 months plus 30 hours.

    Course Content

Can a beginner take this training, or do I need prior experience?

Anyone can enrol in the training. To sit the exam, PMI requires project risk management experience and risk education. The programme itself is beginner-friendly in structure and provides the contact hours you need toward eligibility.

What topics does the PMI-RMP training cover?

The training covers the five risk domains: Risk Strategy and Planning, Risk Identification, Risk Analysis, Risk Response, and Monitor and Close Risks, plus exam strategy and application guidance, all aligned to the January 2022 outline.

Does this training meet the PMI education requirement?

The 32 contact hours fully satisfy the 30-hour requirement for bachelor's degree and GAC-accredited routes. If you qualify through the secondary-diploma route, which needs 40 hours, you should add at least 8 more hours of risk education.

What risk tools and techniques will I learn?

You learn identification tools such as SWOT, the Delphi technique and the risk breakdown structure; analysis tools including the probability and impact matrix, Monte Carlo simulation, decision trees and expected monetary value; and response and monitoring techniques.

Is the courseware aligned with the current exam outline?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to PMI's Examination Content Outline effective January 2022 and reflects risk management across predictive, agile and hybrid project environments.
