    The PfMP exam is a closed-book, multiple-choice examination based on the PfMP Examination Content Outline and the Standard for Portfolio Management, Fourth Edition. It uses scenario and situational questions across the five performance domains.

    How many questions are on the PfMP exam and how long is it?

    The exam has 170 questions and a four-hour (240-minute) allotted time. It is delivered via Pearson VUE OnVUE online proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre.

    What are the PfMP exam domains and their weights?

    Five domains: Strategic Alignment (25%), Governance (20%), Portfolio Performance (25%), Portfolio Risk Management (14%) and Communications Management (16%), as set out in the current PfMP Examination Content Outline.

    What is the passing score for the PfMP exam?

    PMI does not publish a fixed percentage pass mark. The result is determined through psychometric analysis, with domain feedback of Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement, so focus on broad mastery across all five domains.

    What if I do not pass the exam on the first attempt?

    PMI allows up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period, and reexamination fees apply to the second and third attempts. Our prep, mock exams and trainer support are designed to build first-attempt readiness across all five domains.

    Do I need prior experience to take this training?

    Anyone can enrol in the training. To sit the PfMP exam, PMI requires substantial experience: broadly, a secondary degree with 84 months, or a four-year degree with 48 months, of portfolio management experience, plus 120 months of professional business experience, all within the past 15 years.
