    What is the format of the Black Belt exam?

    It is a closed-book exam of 150 multiple-choice questions covering the five DMAIC phases. Some forms include up to 15 additional unscored questions. A reference document with the required formulas and tables is provided during the exam.

    How long is the exam and what is the passing score?

    You have four hours (240 minutes) to complete the exam, with extra time available for non-native speakers. The minimum passing score is 580 out of 750 points.

    Where and how do I sit the exam?

    You can take the exam online with 24/7 web-based proctoring, or at a PearsonVUE test centre. You schedule it directly with the certification body once you feel prepared.

    What is the exam application process?

    You complete training, then optionally take the non-proctored evaluation exam to check readiness. Next you purchase the exam voucher online, choose online proctored or test-centre delivery, and schedule and sit the 150-question exam. On passing you receive a certificate, digital badge and a register listing.

    What happens if I do not pass the first time?

    You can retake the exam by purchasing another voucher, and our trainers provide guidance to help you close any gaps before you try again. Selected plans also include retake support, so ask us about the options.

    What topics are covered in the Black Belt training?

    The training covers all five DMAIC phases: Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control. It includes advanced statistics such as hypothesis testing, regression and design of experiments, plus Lean tools and statistical process control.
