What is the format of the Yellow Belt exam?

The exam is a closed-book test of 60 multiple-choice and true or false questions based on the Yellow Belt Body of Knowledge. It covers all five DMAIC phases at a foundational, awareness level.

How many questions are on the exam and how long is it?

There are 60 questions and the allotted time is two hours. Some exam forms may include up to six additional unscored questions that do not count toward your result.

What score do I need to pass?

You need a minimum of 230 out of 300 points to pass. The questions are spread roughly evenly across the five DMAIC phases, so aim for broad understanding rather than focusing on one area.

Where and how do I take the exam?

You can sit the exam online with web-based proctoring, available on demand, or at a Pearson VUE test centre. There are Pearson VUE centres in Edmonton and worldwide, so you can choose what is convenient.

What happens if I do not pass on the first attempt?

You will learn foundational Lean tools including the seven wastes, 5S, value stream mapping, Kanban and Poka-Yoke (mistake proofing), along with control methods such as basic statistical process control and control plans.
