Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

The Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) is PMI's entry-level credential for people new to project management. It suits students, graduates, career changers and project team members who want to prove foundational project management knowledge without prior work experience.

    General

What is the CAPM certification and who is it for?

The Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) is PMI's entry-level credential for people new to project management. It suits students, graduates, career changers and project team members who want to prove foundational project management knowledge without prior work experience.

Is the CAPM worth it for a career in Melbourne?

Yes. CAPM is a recognised first step into Melbourne's growing project workforce, valued across technology, banking, infrastructure and consulting. With around 100,000 new project roles projected across Australia by 2027, it helps you stand out for coordinator and analyst roles.

Do I need work experience to take the CAPM?

No. CAPM is the only PMI practitioner credential that requires no project management work experience. You need a secondary qualification and 23 hours of project management education, which this training provides.

    Is the CAPM recognised internationally?

Yes. As a PMI credential, the CAPM is recognised by employers in over 200 countries, so it travels with you across sectors and borders.

How long is the CAPM valid?

The CAPM is valid for three years. You renew it by retaking and passing the CAPM exam, not by earning PDUs.

How does the CAPM differ from the PMP?

CAPM is the entry-level credential needing only 23 hours of education and no experience. The PMP is advanced and requires months of leading projects. Many professionals earn the CAPM first and progress to the PMP later.

    Pricing

What is included in the CAPM training fee?

The fee includes 24 hours of instructor-led training, PMI-aligned courseware, practice questions, mock exams and learner support, plus a course completion certificate with contact hours. The PMI exam fee is paid separately. Request a quote for current pricing.

How much does CAPM training cost in Melbourne?

Pricing varies by format and schedule, with live virtual, classroom and corporate options available. Contact a learning advisor for current Melbourne pricing and any available offers.

Is the exam fee included in the course price?

No. PMI bills the CAPM exam fee separately through pmi.org, with lower rates for PMI members. Confirm the current fees on the PMI website before you apply.

Do you offer group or corporate discounts?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for teams and graduate cohorts. Ask about a tailored group quote.

    What payment options are available?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, with instalment options on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose what suits you.

    Exam

What does the CAPM exam cover?

The CAPM exam covers four domains from the 2023 Examination Content Outline: Project Management Fundamentals and Core Concepts (36 percent), Predictive Plan-Based Methodologies (17 percent), Agile Frameworks and Methodologies (20 percent) and Business Analysis Frameworks (27 percent).
