Market Forces Fuelling Demand for Scrum Product Owners in Zambia

    Rapid Fintech Growth

Zambia's fintech base has more than doubled since 2018, yet many teams lack trained product owners to turn fast-moving ideas into ordered, value-driven backlogs.

CSPO builds product vision and backlog skills

    Mobile Money Expansion

Mobile money is now the country's most used financial product, pushing providers to expand into payments, savings and credit, work that needs skilled product ownership to prioritise.

    CSPO builds value-maximisation skills

    Digital Banking Pressure

Zambian banks are digitising channels and launching new customer products, but weak links between strategy and delivery cause value leakage a product owner is trained to fix.

    CSPO builds stakeholder collaboration skills

    Agile Product Talent Scarcity

Zambia's tech pool is deep in developers but thin in credentialed product owners. A Scrum Alliance certification makes holders rare and sought-after by employers.

CSPO makes certified product owners stand out

    Telecoms and ICT Investment

Telecoms operators are investing in ICT infrastructure and digital services, creating demand for product owners who can plan releases and deliver value incrementally.

CSPO builds release and forecasting skills

    Public-Sector Digital Drive

Government and public-sector digital programmes are growing, and they need product owners who can define clear product goals and roadmaps to keep delivery aligned to outcomes.

Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

The Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) is a Scrum Alliance credential that teaches Scrum from the product owner's perspective, covering product vision, Product Backlog management and value maximisation. It suits aspiring product owners, business analysts, product managers and business stakeholders across Zambia.

    General

What is the CSPO certification and who is it for?

The Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) is a Scrum Alliance credential that teaches Scrum from the product owner's perspective, covering product vision, Product Backlog management and value maximisation. It suits aspiring product owners, business analysts, product managers and business stakeholders across Zambia.

Is the CSPO certification worth it in Zambia?

Yes. As Zambian banks, fintechs and telecoms digitise their products, employers increasingly value certified product owners. CSPO is a globally recognised qualification that helps you move into product owner, scrum master and product manager roles where pay sits well above the national average.

Do I need any prior experience or qualifications?

No. Scrum Alliance sets no formal education or work experience requirement for CSPO. The course suits those new to the product owner role as well as professionals formalising existing experience. Anyone can attend and earn the credential on completion.

Which body awards the CSPO credential?

The credential is awarded by Scrum Alliance, the body behind the CSPO certification. Invensis Learning delivers training aligned to Scrum Alliance and led by a Certified Scrum Trainer (CST), which is the requirement for certification.

How long is the CSPO certification valid?

CSPO is valid for two years from the date of course completion. To renew, you earn 16 Scrum Education Units (SEUs) and pay the Scrum Alliance membership renewal fee within each two-year cycle.

    Pricing

What is included in the CSPO course fee?

The fee covers instructor-led training delivered by a Certified Scrum Trainer, course materials, and a two-year Scrum Alliance membership with your digital badge on completion. For a detailed quote, request a quote or talk to a learning advisor.

How much does CSPO training cost in Zambia?

Pricing varies by training format and provider, so it is available on request. Because there is no separate exam, your fee covers the approved course and the included Scrum Alliance membership. Contact us for current pricing and upcoming batches.

Are there separate exam or membership fees?

CSPO has no exam, so there is no exam fee. A two-year Scrum Alliance membership is included with the course. After two years, renewal involves the Scrum Alliance membership renewal fee, which you pay directly to Scrum Alliance.

Do you offer group or corporate pricing?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for product and delivery teams across Zambia. Ask about corporate or group pricing for a tailored quote.

    What payment options are available?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, with instalment options on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you.

    Certification

Is there an exam for the CSPO certification?

No. CSPO has no examination. The credential is awarded once you successfully complete an approved CSPO course delivered by a Scrum Alliance Certified Scrum Trainer, so you can walk out of the course certified.

How do I get CSPO certified?

Attend the full approved CSPO course delivered by a Certified Scrum Trainer. On completion, you accept the Scrum Alliance licence agreement through your member account, and the credential and digital badge are issued by Scrum Alliance.

How is the CSPO awarded after the course?

Scrum Alliance processes your certification through your member account once the trainer confirms course completion. You then receive the CSPO credential, a digital badge and a two-year Scrum Alliance membership.

How do I renew my CSPO certification?

Renew every two years by earning 16 Scrum Education Units (SEUs) and paying the Scrum Alliance membership renewal fee. SEUs can be earned through training, events, coaching and self-study.

What can I do after earning CSPO?

CSPO is the first level of the Scrum Alliance Product Owner track. After it, you can progress to Advanced Certified Scrum Product Owner (A-CSPO) and then Certified Scrum Professional - Product Owner (CSP-PO) as you deepen your experience.

    Course Content

What topics does the CSPO training cover?

The training follows the Scrum Alliance CSPO Learning Objectives: Scrum theory, the product owner role, product vision and the Product Goal, Product Backlog management, stakeholder collaboration and value, and release planning and forecasting.

Will I learn how to write user stories and manage a backlog?

Yes. You learn to write effective user stories with acceptance criteria, refine and order the Product Backlog by value, risk and dependencies, and apply techniques such as MoSCoW and the Kano model.

Is the course hands-on or theory only?

It is highly practical. The course uses scenario-based exercises and discussions so you can apply product vision, backlog ordering and stakeholder engagement to realistic product situations, not just learn the theory.

Is the courseware aligned with the latest Scrum guidance?

Yes. The courseware follows the current Scrum Alliance CSPO Learning Objectives and is aligned to the Scrum Guide, including the Product Goal as the Product Backlog's commitment.

Can a beginner take this course?

Yes. There are no prerequisites, and the course is designed to suit those new to Scrum as well as experienced professionals. Trainers guide you through every concept with practical examples.
