    General

Is the CSM certification worth it in Zambia?

Yes. The CSM is the world's most widely recognised Scrum Master credential, valued by agile employers across Zambia's telecom, banking, fintech and mining sectors. It opens roles from Scrum Master and Product Owner to Agile Delivery Lead, where certified professionals are in growing demand.

What is the Certified ScrumMaster certification?

The Certified ScrumMaster, or CSM, is Scrum Alliance's entry-level Scrum Master certification. It validates your understanding of the Scrum framework, the Scrum Master role, and the values and practices that make Scrum teams effective. It is the most recognised Scrum Master credential worldwide.

Who should take the CSM course?

The CSM suits aspiring Scrum Masters, project managers moving to agile, and developers, testers and team leads who work within Scrum teams. There is no formal education or experience requirement, so it works for newcomers and for those formalising existing Scrum knowledge.

Why choose Invensis Learning for CSM training?

Invensis Learning is a Scrum Alliance Registered Education Provider, delivering the CSM through a Certified Scrum Trainer with course materials aligned to the official CSM Learning Objectives. You get experienced trainers, flexible delivery, and a clear, supported path from the course to your online exam.

How long is the CSM certification valid?

The CSM is valid for two years. To renew it, you earn 16 Scrum Education Units (SEUs) and pay the Scrum Alliance membership renewal fee within each two-year cycle. SEUs can be earned through training, conferences, coaching and self-study.

What is the next step after the CSM?

The Advanced Certified ScrumMaster (A-CSM) is the next level in the Scrum Alliance Scrum Master track, covering advanced facilitation, coaching and stakeholder engagement. The CSM is the mandatory prerequisite, and A-CSM also requires experience in a Scrum Master role.

What is included in the CSM course fee?

The fee typically includes instructor-led training by a Certified Scrum Trainer, Scrum Alliance-aligned courseware, the online CSM exam access, and a two-year Scrum Alliance membership on passing. Practice activities and learner support are also included. Request a quote for the full inclusions.

Is the exam fee included in the training price?

For the CSM, the online exam fee is usually included in the course fee paid to the training provider, as Scrum Alliance requires you to complete an approved course before sitting the exam. Confirm the exact inclusions with a learning advisor when you enquire.

    Exam

What is the format of the CSM exam?

The CSM exam is an open-book, online, multiple-choice test taken through the Scrum Alliance member portal after you complete an approved course. There is no proctor. It is based on the Scrum Alliance CSM Learning Objectives and the current Scrum Guide.

How many questions are on the CSM exam and how long is it?

The CSM exam has 50 multiple-choice questions and you have 60 minutes (one hour) to complete it. It is taken online and is open book, so you can refer to your materials during the exam.

What is the passing score for the CSM exam?

The passing score is 74 per cent, which means answering at least 37 of the 50 questions correctly. Focus on broad understanding across Scrum theory, the values, the team, the events, the artefacts and the Scrum Master role.

How many attempts do I get, and what if I do not pass first time?

Candidates typically have three attempts to pass the CSM exam within 90 days of completing the course. If you do not pass on the first try, you can retake it within that window. Our trainer guidance is designed to help you prepare for a confident attempt.

Do I need to attend a course to sit the CSM exam?

Yes. Attendance at an approved CSM course delivered by a Certified Scrum Trainer is mandatory. The exam is unlocked only after you complete the course, and you then have 90 days to sit it through your Scrum Alliance member portal.

    Course Content

What will I learn in the CSM course?

You will learn the full Scrum framework: Scrum theory and empiricism, the five Scrum values, the Scrum Team and its accountabilities, all five Scrum events, the three artefacts and their commitments, and the servant-leadership role of the Scrum Master.

Which Scrum Guide edition is the course based on?

The course is aligned to the current Scrum Guide, the November 2020 edition by Ken Schwaber and Jeff Sutherland, along with the Scrum Alliance CSM Learning Objectives. This edition introduced the Product Goal and framed the Sprint Goal and Definition of Done as commitments.

Can a complete beginner take this course?

Yes. The CSM has no formal prerequisites, so beginners are welcome. The course starts with Scrum theory and builds up to facilitation and coaching through practical, trainer-led exercises, so you gain both the knowledge and the confidence to apply it.

How long is the CSM training?

The instructor-led CSM programme runs for 16 hours, delivered as two full days or four half days depending on the schedule. This exceeds the Scrum Alliance minimum of 14 contact hours required for the course.

Are practical exercises and case studies included?

Yes. The course uses industry-driven case studies and practical activities on facilitation, coaching and impediment removal, so you can connect Scrum concepts to real delivery scenarios rather than only reading theory.

How do I enrol in the CSM course?

You can enrol through the Invensis Learning website. Choose your preferred format, complete payment, and you will receive access to the schedule, courseware and learning resources. Talk to a learning advisor if you need help choosing a batch.

    What training formats are available?

We offer live virtual (online) instructor-led training and classroom training for individuals, plus customised corporate group training for teams. You can choose the format and schedule that best fit your work commitments in Zambia.

How soon can I start and get certified?

You can enrol in an upcoming batch and complete the 16-hour course, then sit the online exam within 90 days. Many learners take the exam within days of finishing the course. See upcoming schedules or ask an advisor about the next available batch.

Can I reschedule or transfer my enrolment to another batch?

Yes. Flexi options let you reschedule or transfer to another batch on selected plans. Contact our support team to arrange a change that fits your availability.

Is online (live virtual) CSM training available in Zambia?

Yes. Live virtual instructor-led CSM training is available across Zambia, delivered in real time by a Certified Scrum Trainer and accessible from any location. It offers the same interaction and exam readiness as classroom training with added flexibility.
