Assessment

Is there an exam for the QFD course?

No. This is a practical skills course with no exam. Learning is reinforced through hands-on House of Quality construction exercises, case study examples and team discussion throughout the day.

Will I receive a certificate after the training?

You receive a course completion record from Invensis Learning after finishing the programme. It recognises that you have completed the training and built practical QFD skills; it is not an external credential.

How is my learning assessed?

There is no formal assessment. Instead, you build and interpret QFD matrices during guided, hands-on exercises, which show you can apply the method to real products and services by the end of the course.

How long is the QFD training?

The course runs for one day, around eight hours in total. It can be delivered as a full-day intensive or as two extended half-days, covering all six QFD modules with exercises throughout.

Do the skills expire or need renewal?

No. The QFD skills you gain do not expire and require no renewal. Once you learn the method, you can apply it to product development, service design and quality projects whenever you need it.

Course Content

What topics does the QFD training cover?

The course covers QFD foundations and business case, capturing and structuring the Voice of the Customer, building the House of Quality step by step, interpreting the matrix, cascading QFD through four phases, and applying QFD in DFSS, DMAIC and service design.

What is the House of Quality?

The House of Quality is the central QFD planning matrix. It links customer requirements to engineering characteristics, rates the strength of each relationship, maps design conflicts in the correlation roof, benchmarks competitors and sets engineering targets, all anchored to customer priorities.

Does the course cover the Voice of the Customer and Kano model?

Yes. You learn how to collect and structure the Voice of the Customer using affinity diagrams and how to classify needs with the Kano model into must-be, performance and delighter requirements, so design effort goes where it matters most.

Can QFD be applied to services and software?

Yes. While QFD began in manufacturing, the course shows how to apply it to service design in healthcare, financial services and IT, and to software, translating user requirements into features, architecture and test criteria.

Are there hands-on exercises in the course?

Yes. Hands-on exercises run throughout the day, including VOC structuring, Kano classification and building a full House of Quality from a realistic product or service scenario, so you practise the method rather than only hearing about it.
