The PfMP exam is a closed-book, multiple-choice examination based on the PfMP Examination Content Outline and the Standard for Portfolio Management, Fourth Edition. It uses scenario and situational questions across the five performance domains.

How many questions are on the PfMP exam and how long is it?

The exam has 170 questions and an allotted time of four hours. It is delivered through Pearson VUE, either at a test centre or via OnVUE online proctoring.

What are the PfMP exam domains and weights?

Five domains: Strategic Alignment (25%), Governance (20%), Portfolio Performance (25%), Portfolio Risk Management (14%) and Communications Management (16%). The training covers each in proportion to its weight.

What is the passing score for the PfMP exam?

PMI does not publish a fixed percentage pass mark. The result is determined through psychometric analysis, with domain-level feedback, so focus on broad mastery across all five performance domains.

What if I do not pass the PfMP exam first time?

PMI permits up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period. Reexamination fees apply to the second and third attempts. Our mock exams and prep support are designed to help you pass with confidence; selected plans also include retake support.

What will I learn in the PfMP training?

You will learn to align portfolios to strategy, govern investment, manage portfolio performance, risk and communications, and prepare for the application and panel review. Content maps to the five domains of the Standard for Portfolio Management, 4th edition.

Yes. The programme includes 1000+ practice questions, full-length mock exams, an exam simulator and topic-wise quizzes to help you identify weak areas and build exam readiness.

How many contact hours does the training provide?

The instructor-led programme provides 24 contact hours of portfolio management training. PfMP has no mandatory contact-hour prerequisite, so these hours serve as exam preparation and knowledge consolidation for candidates who already meet the experience requirements.

Will I receive a certificate of completion?

Yes. After meeting the course requirements you receive a course completion certificate along with the contact hours earned through the programme, which support your PfMP preparation.

What are the eligibility requirements for the PfMP exam?

Anyone can enrol in the training. To sit the PfMP exam, PMI requires a secondary or bachelor's degree, up to 120 months of professional business experience within the last 15 years, portfolio management experience, and a subject-matter-expert panel review.
