The Mapping Skills You Will BuildSix Practical Mapping Capabilities

In this training you will learn to map, analyse and redesign value streams using the standard Lean VSM method. By the end of the one-day programme you can create current-state and future-state maps, quantify waste, and plan the improvements to close the gap.

    Map the Current State

You will learn to walk the value stream on a Gemba walk and build an accurate current-state map from customer to supplier, capturing process data, inventory and the timeline as operations actually run today.

    Apply Standard VSM Symbols

Use the standard VSM symbol set for process boxes, material and information flow, inventory triangles, kanban, data boxes and Kaizen bursts so your maps read clearly across teams and functions.

    Expose the Eight Wastes

Systematically read the map to find the eight wastes of Lean (DOWNTIME), locate the bottleneck, and separate value-adding, non-value-adding and necessary activity.

    Calculate Flow Metrics

Work out takt time, cycle time, changeover time and total lead time, and use the value-added ratio as a powerful indicator of where waste is hiding in the flow.

    Design the Future State

Apply the eight future-state design questions to introduce continuous flow, pull systems and levelled scheduling, then draw a leaner future-state map for your operation.

    Build an Implementation Plan

Turn the future-state map into a prioritised Kaizen roadmap with owners, metrics and review points, and learn how to sustain the gains through standard work.

Do I need prior Lean experience to attend?

No. There are no prerequisites. Some familiarity with Lean ideas such as waste and flow is helpful, but the course introduces all the concepts you need in the context of mapping. It is open to professionals at any level.

What technique and standards does the training follow?

    Pricing

How much does Value Stream Mapping training cost in Mozambique?

Pricing depends on the delivery format (live virtual, classroom or corporate on-site) and group size, so a fixed fee is available on request. Request a quote and a learning advisor will share the current options for individuals and teams in Mozambique.

What is included in the course fee?

The fee typically includes instructor-led training across all six VSM modules, hands-on current-state and future-state mapping exercises, course materials, and a course completion record from Invensis Learning. Ask us for the exact inclusions for your chosen format.

Do you offer corporate or group pricing?

Yes. We offer tailored corporate and group pricing for teams, with customised schedules and delivery. Group training is especially effective as your team can map a real value stream together. Contact us for a group quote.

Is the price shown in metical or US dollars?

Training can be quoted in Mozambican metical (MZN) for local delivery, while some public schedules are billed in US dollars. Ask a learning advisor for the pricing that applies to your preferred format and location.

    What payment options are available?

We accept major cards and bank transfers, and offer flexible options for corporate bookings. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the arrangement that suits you or your organisation.

    Assessment And Certification

Is there an exam for this course?

No. Value Stream Mapping is a non-certification course with no exam. Learning is reinforced through hands-on mapping exercises and group discussion during the one-day programme, so you practise the skill rather than sit a test.

Do I receive a certificate after the training?

You receive a course completion record from Invensis Learning after finishing the programme. This confirms your participation and the practical VSM skills you have built; it is not a formal credential from an awarding body.

    How is my learning assessed?

There is no formal assessment. Throughout the day you apply what you learn through mapping exercises, creating current-state and future-state maps for a realistic scenario, with trainer feedback and group discussion to reinforce the method.

    Is this an accredited certification?

No. Value Stream Mapping is a Lean technique with no single governing body or accreditation. This is practical skills training rather than a certification, and it builds capability you can apply immediately in your workplace.

Will this help me progress to further Lean training?

Yes. VSM is a strong foundation for further Lean and operational excellence learning such as Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt or Green Belt, Kaizen and 7 QC Tools, where value stream mapping is a core tool.

    Course Content

What will I learn in the Value Stream Mapping course?

You will learn to select a product family, walk the value stream, build a current-state map with standard symbols, identify the eight wastes and the bottleneck, calculate flow metrics, design a future-state map, and develop a Kaizen implementation plan.

    How long is the training?

The course runs for one day (eight hours), covering Lean foundations, VSM symbols, current-state mapping, analysis, future-state design and implementation planning, with hands-on mapping exercises throughout.

    Are there hands-on mapping exercises?

Yes. You practise creating both a current-state and a future-state map for a realistic operational scenario during the programme, so you leave able to run a mapping session in your own workplace.

What are current-state and future-state maps?

A current-state map shows how your value stream actually operates today, exposing waste and bottlenecks. A future-state map is the leaner target you design toward, using flow, pull and levelling. The gap between them drives your improvement plan.

    What materials are provided?

You receive structured course materials covering the VSM symbol set, worked examples and exercise templates for current-state and future-state mapping, plus a course completion record on finishing the programme.

    Enrollment

How do I enrol in Value Stream Mapping training in Mozambique?

You can enrol through the Invensis Learning website. Choose your preferred format, confirm your booking, and you will receive the schedule, joining details and course materials. Talk to a learning advisor if you need help choosing.

The course is available as online (live virtual) instructor-led training, classroom training, and on-site corporate delivery. Whether you prefer the Value Stream Mapping course online or on-site, you can pick the format that best fits your schedule and team in Mozambique.

Can the course be delivered on-site for my team?
