The Quality and Efficiency Pressures Facing Malawi's Industries

    The Cost of Poor Quality

Scrap, rework and returns eat into margins already squeezed by forex shortages and inflation. Six Sigma thinking helps teams find and remove the root causes of defects.

Six Sigma awareness targets defects and waste

    Sustaining the Manufacturing Recovery

With manufacturing forecast to grow 2.5% in 2026, firms need process improvement capability across the workforce to sustain and scale that recovery.

Six Sigma awareness builds improvement capability

    Value Lost in Agro-Processing

Sugar, tea, tobacco and food processors lose value to variation and spoilage. Understanding DMAIC helps staff support projects that protect yield and product quality.

Six Sigma awareness supports yield and quality

    Meeting Export and Buyer Standards

Competing under AfCFTA and meeting buyer requirements demands consistent quality. A shared Six Sigma vocabulary helps organisations build that consistency.

    The Process Improvement Skills Gap

Many Malawian organisations run improvement projects but lack staff who understand the method. Awareness training closes that gap across the whole workforce.

Six Sigma Awareness Training is a one-day, non-certification programme that introduces the Six Sigma method, the DMAIC roadmap and key quality concepts. It is designed for employees, managers and leaders in Malawi who want to understand Six Sigma and support improvement projects without becoming practising Green Belts or Black Belts.

    General

What is Six Sigma Awareness Training and who is it for?

Six Sigma Awareness Training is a one-day, non-certification programme that introduces the Six Sigma method, the DMAIC roadmap and key quality concepts. It is designed for employees, managers and leaders in Malawi who want to understand Six Sigma and support improvement projects without becoming practising Green Belts or Black Belts.

Is Six Sigma awareness worth it for my career in Malawi?

Yes. As Malawi's manufacturing and agro-processing sectors grow and organisations face cost and quality pressure, employers value people who understand process improvement. The training adds a respected, transferable skill set that supports roles in quality, production, operations and continuous improvement.

Do I need any prior quality or statistics knowledge?

No. The course has no prerequisites and assumes no background in quality or statistics. It is built for a general audience, from front-line employees to senior leaders, and explains every concept from first principles.

What is Six Sigma in simple terms?

Six Sigma is a data-driven method for reducing process variation and eliminating defects, aiming for fewer than 3.4 defects per million opportunities. Developed at Motorola and made famous by GE, it uses the DMAIC roadmap to improve existing processes across any industry.

Will this training qualify me to lead Six Sigma projects?

No. This is an awareness-level introduction, not a practitioner qualification. It prepares you to understand and support projects. To lead Six Sigma projects, you would progress to Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt, Green Belt or Black Belt training.

    Pricing

How much does Six Sigma Awareness Training cost in Malawi?

The fee depends on the delivery format and whether you enrol as an individual or a group, so current pricing is available on request. As there is no exam, the price covers only the training and learning resources. Request a quote for the latest figure.

What is included in the course fee?

The fee typically includes instructor-led training across all six modules, structured courseware, real-world case examples, team exercises and learner support, plus a course completion record from Invensis Learning. Ask a learning advisor for details on your chosen format.

Do you offer group or corporate discounts?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing, which is popular with Malawian organisations training whole departments. Contact us for a tailored group quote.

Are there any extra fees beyond the training price?

No. Because this is a non-certification course, there is no separate exam or awarding-body fee. The training price covers the programme and its learning materials. Any optional add-ons are made clear before you enrol.

    What payment options are available?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, with instalment options on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that best suits you or your organisation.

    Assessment

Is there an exam for Six Sigma Awareness Training?

No. This is a non-certification course with no exam. Learning is reinforced through interactive discussion, real-world case examples and team exercises during the one-day programme, rather than through a formal test.

Do I receive a certificate after the training?

You receive a course completion record from Invensis Learning. No formal certification or credential is awarded by an external body, as this is an awareness-level programme designed to build knowledge and workplace skills.

How am I assessed during the course?

There is no formal assessment. Instead, interactive discussions and team exercises throughout the day let you apply Six Sigma concepts to your own work context, so you leave able to use the ideas straight away.

    Does the awareness knowledge expire?

No. There is no certification to renew and no expiry. The awareness knowledge you gain, from the DMAIC roadmap to Lean Six Sigma, stays relevant and can be applied throughout your career.

What can I do after completing the training?

    Course Content

What topics are covered in the training?

The course covers six modules: the history, philosophy and business case for Six Sigma; key concepts and terminology; the DMAIC methodology; Six Sigma roles and organisational structure; an awareness-level introduction to the core tools; and Lean Six Sigma in practice.

What will I learn about DMAIC?

You will gain an awareness-level overview of all five DMAIC phases: Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve and Control. You learn what each phase does, its key tools and deliverables, and how tollgate reviews keep decisions grounded in data.

Which Six Sigma tools does the course introduce?

The course introduces core tools at awareness level, including SIPOC, Fishbone diagrams, Pareto charts, control charts, measurement system analysis and process capability. You learn what each tool does and how it is used within a DMAIC project.

How long is the training and what format does it take?

The course runs for one day (eight hours) and combines concept explanations, real-world case examples, interactive discussion and team exercises. It is available in classroom, live online and corporate onsite formats.

Does the course cover Lean Six Sigma too?

Yes. The final module introduces Lean Six Sigma, showing how Lean waste elimination and flow combine with Six Sigma variation reduction, plus how programmes are selected, governed and sustained in real organisations.
