What is the format of the PMI-CP exam?

The PMI-CP exam is closed book and uses multiple-choice questions in single-answer and multiple-answer formats. It is delivered online through Pearson VUE OnVUE proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre, and it is based on the PMI-CP Examination Content Outline.

How many questions are on the PMI-CP exam and how long is it?

The exam has 120 questions and you have 230 minutes, which is 3 hours 50 minutes, to complete it.

What are the PMI-CP exam domains and their weights?

There are four domains: Contracts Management (50%), Stakeholder Engagement (30%), Strategy and Scope Management (15%) and Project Governance (5%). The heavy weighting on contracts reflects how central contract administration and claims are to construction delivery.

What is the passing score for the PMI-CP exam?

PMI uses a psychometrically determined passing score that is not published as a fixed number. Results are reported as pass or fail with domain-level feedback of Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement, so aim for broad mastery across all four domains.

How many attempts do I get for the PMI-CP exam?

You may sit the exam up to three times within the one-year eligibility period that begins when your application is approved.

What standard is the PMI-CP exam based on?

The exam is based on the PMI-CP Examination Content Outline (ECO) and is aligned to the current PMBOK Guide and PMI's construction industry standards and practices.

What will I learn in the PMI-CP training?

You will learn to manage construction contracts, claims and disputes, engage stakeholders and regulators, control strategy and scope, and govern projects and reporting. The training maps to the four PMI-CP domains so you build real capability and prepare for the exam.

Does the training cover the four mandatory prerequisite modules?

The training includes guidance on completing PMI's four mandatory self-paced modules before you apply. Each module is a 6 to 10 hour commitment and awards 14 PDUs, for 56 PDUs in total that can also count toward certification renewal.

Do I need construction experience to attend the training?

Anyone can attend the training to build skills and contact hours. To sit the PMI-CP exam, PMI requires between 24 and 60 months of construction project management experience within the past 10 years, depending on your education level.

Are practice questions and mock exams included?

Yes. The programme includes practice questions and full-length mock exams mapped to the 120-question, 230-minute PMI-CP format, along with topic-wise quizzes to help you identify and close gaps.

Is the courseware aligned to the current PMI-CP syllabus?
