The Market Forces Making PMI-CP Skills Essential in Incheon

    Megaproject Contract Complexity

Incheon's airport, port and GTX-B works run multi-party EPC and design-build contracts where variations and claims dominate. PMI-CP devotes half its exam to contracts management, the skill these projects most need.

PMI-CP builds contract and claims management skills

    Dense Stakeholder Landscapes

Free Economic Zone and public infrastructure projects juggle owners, government, regulators and communities. Certified leaders who can plan and manage engagement keep approvals and works on track.

    PMI-CP builds stakeholder engagement skills

    Scope Creep and Change Orders

Long-cycle megaprojects face constant scope change that erodes cost and schedule. PMI-CP builds disciplined scope definition, change order and baseline control to protect project value.

    Governance and Compliance Demands

Publicly funded works require audit-ready governance, reporting and decision rights. PMI-CP embeds the governance frameworks that owners and authorities in Korea expect on major projects.

    PMI-CP builds project governance skills

    Credentialed Talent Shortage

Korea's construction sector is deep in engineers but thin in globally credentialed construction project managers. The PMI-CP's specialist focus makes holders rare and sought after.

    Automation and Interface Management

Automated port terminals and smart airport systems raise interface complexity across trades and technologies. PMI-CP develops the coordination and integration skills modern delivery requires.

Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

PMI-CP is PMI's specialist credential for professionals who deliver construction projects. It validates skill across four domains: Contracts Management (50%), Stakeholder Engagement (30%), Strategy and Scope Management (15%) and Project Governance (5%). It suits construction project managers, site managers, engineers and owner's representatives.

    General

What is the PMI-CP certification and who is it for?

PMI-CP is PMI's specialist credential for professionals who deliver construction projects. It validates skill across four domains: Contracts Management (50%), Stakeholder Engagement (30%), Strategy and Scope Management (15%) and Project Governance (5%). It suits construction project managers, site managers, engineers and owner's representatives.

Is the PMI-CP worth it for construction professionals in Incheon?

Yes. Incheon is delivering airport, port and GTX-B rail megaprojects that demand strong contract, stakeholder and governance skills. Construction manager roles in Korea average around KRW 85.6M, with contracts manager and director bands higher, so a recognised construction credential improves both roles and earning potential.

Is a PMP required before taking PMI-CP?

No. A PMP is not a prerequisite for PMI-CP. You can apply based on your construction project management experience and education. The two are complementary: PMP validates broad project management, while PMI-CP validates construction-specific expertise, and many professionals hold both.

How does PMI-CP differ from the PMP?

The PMP is a broad project management credential across all industries. PMI-CP focuses only on construction, with its largest domain being Contracts Management at 50 percent, reflecting how central contract administration, claims and disputes are in construction delivery. They are complementary for construction leaders.

Is the PMI-CP recognised in South Korea?

Yes. As a PMI credential, PMI-CP carries global recognition across PMI's network in more than 200 countries. It is valued by Korean and international construction employers on major airport, port, rail and building projects who look for globally recognised project management credentials.

How long is the PMI-CP certification valid?

PMI-CP is valid for three years. To maintain it, you earn 60 PDUs across the PMI Talent Triangle within each three-year cycle, with a minimum of 8 PDUs in each area. The 56 PDUs earned from the four prerequisite modules can be applied toward renewal.

    Pricing

How much does PMI-CP training cost in Incheon?

Training fees vary by format and schedule and are available on request. The programme includes PMI-aligned courseware, practice questions, mock exams and application guidance. The PMI exam fee is billed separately by PMI in USD. Request a quote or speak with a learning advisor for current pricing.

What is included in the PMI-CP course fee?

The training fee typically includes PMI-aligned courseware, practice questions, mock exams, downloadable templates, guidance on the four prerequisite modules and the application, and learner support with a course completion certificate. The PMI exam fee is not included.

Is the PMI exam fee included in the training price?

No. PMI bills the PMI-CP exam fee separately in USD under regional pricing. For reference it is around USD 520 for PMI members and USD 670 for non-members; confirm current fees on pmi.org. PMI membership can reduce the exam fee and provide access to resources.

Do you offer corporate or group discounts for PMI-CP training?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for construction project teams, site offices and leadership groups. Contact us for a tailored group quote for your team.

    Exam

How many questions are on the PMI-CP exam and how long is it?

The PMI-CP exam has 120 questions and a total time of 230 minutes (3 hours 50 minutes). It is closed book, with single-answer and multiple-answer multiple-choice questions.

What domains does the PMI-CP exam cover and their weights?

The exam covers four domains from the PMI-CP Examination Content Outline: Contracts Management (50%), Stakeholder Engagement (30%), Strategy and Scope Management (15%) and Project Governance (5%).

What is the passing score for the PMI-CP exam?

PMI uses a psychometrically determined passing score that is not published as a fixed number. Results are reported as pass or fail, with domain-level feedback of Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement. Focus on broad mastery across all four domains.

Where can I take the PMI-CP exam?

You can take the exam online through Pearson VUE's OnVUE proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre. Scheduling is done through Pearson VUE or the PMI portal. You have up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period.

What are the four mandatory prerequisite modules?

Before applying, you must complete four self-paced PMI-CP modules in any order, each awarding 14 PDUs (56 total): Project Communications, Interface Management, Scope and Change Order Management, and Contract and Risk Management. Each is a 6 to 10 hour commitment.

    Course Content

What topics does the PMI-CP training cover?

The training covers all four ECO domains: contracts and delivery methods, contract administration, claims and disputes, stakeholder engagement, scope and change control, schedule, cost and risk, plus project governance and reporting. It also includes exam strategy and application guidance.

Do I need prior experience to take this training?

Anyone can attend the training. To sit the PMI-CP exam, PMI requires construction project management experience plus education, ranging from 24 to 60 months depending on your degree, and completion of the four prerequisite modules. We guide you on meeting these requirements.

Does this training meet the 35 contact hour requirement?

The instructor-led programme provides 32 contact hours, which is close to but below PMI's 35 contact hour education requirement. Check with our advisors whether supplementary self-study or pre-reading is credited toward the 35-hour requirement before you apply.

Are practice questions and mock exams included?

Yes. The programme includes practice questions and full-length mock exams mapped to the 120-question, 230-minute closed-book format, plus topic-wise quizzes to help you identify weak areas and build exam readiness.

Is the courseware aligned to the latest PMI-CP outline?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the current PMI-CP Examination Content Outline and the current edition of the PMBOK Guide, so you study the domains and weightings that the exam actually tests.

    Enrollment

What are the eligibility requirements to sit the PMI-CP exam?

You must complete the four prerequisite modules and meet one experience set: a secondary diploma with 60 months construction PM experience, a bachelor's degree with 36 months, or a GAC-accredited degree with 24 months, each within the past 10 years, plus 35 contact hours of PM education.

How do I enrol in the PMI-CP course?

You can enrol through the Invensis Learning website. Choose your preferred format, complete payment, and you will receive access to schedules, courseware and learning resources. Talk to a learning advisor if you need help choosing a batch.
