What Is Design for Six Sigma and How Does It Build Quality In?UntitledA Practical DMADV Toolkit for Cambodia

The Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) Training in Cambodia is a practical one-day skills programme that teaches professionals how to design new products, services and processes that meet customer requirements and reach Six Sigma quality from the very first release. Instead of fixing defects after launch, you learn to build quality in from the outset using the DMADV roadmap (Define, Measure, Analyse, Design, Verify) and core tools such as Voice of the Customer, CTQ flow-down, Quality Function Deployment, concept selection, Design FMEA and robust design. The training suits design and systems engineers, R&D and process engineers, quality engineers and new product development leads across Cambodia's manufacturing base. As factories move up from garments into electronics, automotive parts and higher-value production, employers increasingly value people who can design reliability in and cut rework, warranty and redesign costs. DFSS is a methodology-based course with no examination and no certifying body; learning is reinforced through hands-on tool exercises rather than a formal test. On completion you receive a course completion record from Invensis Learning and can apply the DMADV toolkit to live design projects straight away.

Why Design-Quality Skills Are in Demand Across Cambodia

    Moving up the Value Chain

As Cambodia shifts from garments into electronics and automotive parts, factories must design more complex products right the first time, exactly the gap the DMADV method closes.

DFSS builds structured new product design skills

    Global Buyer Quality Expectations

OEMs and international buyers demand proven reliability and first-time quality. DFSS tools such as QFD and Design FMEA help suppliers meet those expectations before shipping.

DFSS builds VOC, CTQ and verification skills

    Costly Late Design Changes

On thin manufacturing margins, rework, warranty and redesign costs hurt. Designing quality in early with DFSS is far cheaper than fixing defects after launch.

DFSS builds design-quality and DFMEA skills

    Design-Quality Skills Shortage

Cambodia has a growing engineering workforce but few professionals trained in structured design tools like QFD, robust design and CTQ flow-down, making DFSS skills scarce and valued.

DFSS makes engineers stand out to employers

    Foreign-Owned Factory Standards

Japanese and other foreign-owned plants in the SEZs run APQP and design-control processes that expect DFMEA and design verification, raising demand for engineers fluent in DFSS.

DFSS aligns teams to APQP-style design discipline

    Diversification into New Sectors

As investment expands into electronics, auto parts, furniture and agro-processing, manufacturers need a repeatable way to design new products, and DFSS provides that discipline.

DFSS builds repeatable design excellence capability

Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) training teaches you how to design new products, services and processes that meet customer needs and reach Six Sigma quality from the start. It suits design and R&D engineers, process and quality engineers, and new product development leads across Cambodia's manufacturing sectors.

    General

What is Design for Six Sigma training and who is it for?

Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) training teaches you how to design new products, services and processes that meet customer needs and reach Six Sigma quality from the start. It suits design and R&D engineers, process and quality engineers, and new product development leads across Cambodia's manufacturing sectors.

Is Design for Six Sigma worth it in Cambodia?

Yes. As Cambodian factories move from garments into electronics, automotive parts and higher-value production, employers value engineers who can design reliability in and cut rework and warranty costs. DFSS skills such as QFD, DFMEA and robust design are still scarce, which makes them a strong differentiator.

How is DFSS different from DMAIC?

DMAIC improves existing processes that are underperforming, while DFSS designs new products and processes correctly from the outset using the DMADV roadmap (Define, Measure, Analyse, Design, Verify). This course covers DFSS and DMADV. Many organisations use both approaches together.

Do I need prior Six Sigma knowledge to attend?

No. There are no formal prerequisites. Familiarity with basic Six Sigma ideas such as CTQ and variation is helpful but not required, as the course introduces the DMADV methodology and all DFSS tools from first principles.

How long is the training and how is it delivered?

The programme runs for one day (about 8 hours) and covers all five DMADV phases with hands-on tool exercises. It is available as live online (instructor-led), classroom, and onsite corporate training across Cambodia.

    Pricing

How much does Design for Six Sigma training cost in Cambodia?

Fees depend on the delivery format and whether you enrol as an individual or a group, so pricing is available on request. The fee covers instructor-led training, courseware, hands-on tool exercises and a course completion record. Request a quote for current figures.

What is included in the course fee?

The fee typically includes instructor-led sessions, DFSS courseware, hands-on exercises for VOC, CTQ flow-down, QFD, the Pugh matrix and Design FMEA, learner support, and a course completion record from Invensis Learning. There is no separate exam fee, as this is a non-certification course.

Do you offer group or corporate pricing?

Yes. We offer volume-friendly pricing for design, R&D and quality teams, with delivery tailored to your plant and schedule. Ask about corporate or group pricing for a quote built around your team size and location.

Are there any additional exam or certification fees?

No. DFSS is a non-certification skills course with no examination and no certifying body, so there are no exam or credential fees. You pay only the training fee and receive a course completion record on finishing.

    What payment options are available?

We accept common payment methods and can arrange invoicing for corporate bookings. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you or your organisation.

    Assessment

Is there an exam for the Design for Six Sigma training?

No. This is a non-certification course with no examination. Learning is reinforced through hands-on DFSS tool exercises, worked examples and discussion during the one-day programme rather than a formal test.

Do I receive a certificate after the training?

You receive a course completion record from Invensis Learning. No formal certification or credential is awarded by an external body, because DFSS is a skills training course rather than a certification programme.

How is my learning assessed during the course?

There is no graded assessment. Instead you apply the tools to realistic scenarios throughout the day, running VOC and CTQ flow-down, building a House of Quality, selecting concepts and completing a Design FMEA, so you leave able to use the method at work.

Will this training help me on the job straight away?

Yes. The DMADV toolkit is immediately applicable to new product and process design projects. You can lead or contribute to design work, facilitate VOC and QFD sessions, run Design FMEAs and plan design verification as soon as you return to work.

Does the course lead to a Six Sigma belt?

No. DFSS training is a focused, methodology-based course and does not award a belt or credential. It complements belt-level Six Sigma learning by adding the design counterpart to the DMAIC improvement approach.

    Course Content

What will I learn in the DFSS training?

You will learn the DMADV roadmap and core DFSS tools: Voice of the Customer and the Kano model, CTQ flow-down, Quality Function Deployment, concept generation and the Pugh matrix, Design FMEA, robust design and the P-diagram, and design verification, validation and transfer.

Which design tools are covered hands-on?

You practise VOC to CTQ flow-down, building a QFD House of Quality, using the Pugh matrix to select concepts, and completing a Design FMEA worksheet with RPN scoring, all applied to realistic product or process design scenarios.

Is the course based on a recognised methodology?

Yes. It is grounded in the established Design for Six Sigma methodology and the DMADV roadmap, drawing on recognised quality tools such as QFD, FMEA, Taguchi robust design and Design for Manufacturability and Assembly.

Can beginners to design tools take this course?

Yes. The course builds every tool from first principles, so professionals new to structured design methods can follow along. Engineers with some Six Sigma background will find it a natural extension into design.

What materials and support are provided?

You receive DFSS courseware and worked examples, guided tool exercises, and post-training learner support. Corporate sessions can also use your own products as case material for the exercises.
