    General

Is the PMI-CP certification worth it for construction professionals in Nairobi?

Yes. The PMI-CP validates construction-specific project management skill that Nairobi employers value across housing, transport and energy projects. With a talent gap flagged by the NCA and PMI, credentialed construction leaders are in demand and command senior salary bands, from Construction Project Manager to Capital Projects Director.

What is the PMI Construction Professional (PMI-CP) certification?

PMI-CP is PMI's specialist credential for the construction industry. It validates your ability to manage construction projects across four domains: Contracts Management (50%), Stakeholder Engagement (30%), Strategy and Scope Management (15%) and Project Governance (5%), aligned to the PMI-CP Examination Content Outline and the PMBOK Guide, Eighth Edition.

    Who should take PMI-CP training?

It suits construction project managers, project engineers, quantity surveyors, site managers, owner's representatives and PMP holders working in construction. If you deliver building, civil or infrastructure projects and want a globally recognised construction credential, PMI-CP is designed for you.

    Is PMP required before PMI-CP?

No. PMP is not a prerequisite for PMI-CP. You can apply based on your construction experience and education. The two are complementary: PMP validates broad project management, while PMI-CP validates construction-specific expertise, and many professionals hold both.

How long is the PMI-CP certification valid?

PMI-CP is valid for three years. To maintain it, you earn 60 PDUs across the PMI Talent Triangle within each three-year cycle, with at least 8 PDUs in each area. The 56 PDUs from the four prerequisite modules can be applied toward renewal.

    Pricing

How much does PMI-CP training cost in Nairobi?

Training fees vary by format, from self-paced e-learning to live virtual and corporate delivery, and are available on request. The PMI exam fee is billed separately by PMI in USD under regional pricing and is not part of the training fee. Request a quote for current Nairobi pricing.

What is included in the PMI-CP course fee?

The training fee typically includes PMI-aligned courseware, practice questions and mock exams mapped to the ECO, guidance on the four mandatory modules, application support and learner support, plus a course completion certificate. Talk to a learning advisor for full inclusions.

Is the PMI-CP exam fee included in the training price?

No. PMI bills the exam fee separately in USD under regional pricing, with lower rates for PMI members. The four mandatory prerequisite modules are also purchased through PMI. Confirm current fees on the PMI store before applying.

    Exam

What is the format of the PMI-CP exam?

The PMI-CP exam is closed book with multiple-choice questions, including single-answer and multiple-answer formats. It is based on the PMI-CP Examination Content Outline and covers four construction project management domains.

How many questions are on the PMI-CP exam and how long is it?

The exam has 120 questions and an allotted time of 230 minutes (3 hours 50 minutes). It is delivered via Pearson VUE, either online proctored through OnVUE or at a Pearson VUE test centre.

What are the eligibility requirements for the PMI-CP exam?

You must complete all four mandatory self-paced modules and meet one experience set: with a secondary diploma, 60 months of construction PM experience; with a bachelor's degree, 36 months; or with a GAC-accredited degree, 24 months. All sets require 35 contact hours of PM education, within the past 10 years.

What is the passing score for the PMI-CP exam?

PMI uses a psychometrically determined passing score rather than a fixed percentage. Results are reported as pass or fail with domain-level feedback of Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement across the four domains.

What if I do not pass the PMI-CP exam the first time?

You have up to three attempts within the one-year eligibility window from application approval. Reexamination fees apply to later attempts. Our mock exams and domain-focused practice are designed to build readiness before your first sitting.

    Course Content

What will I learn in the PMI-CP training?

You will learn to manage construction contracts and delivery methods, process variations and claims, engage stakeholders and regulators, baseline scope, schedule and cost, and govern projects. The content maps to the four ECO domains and the PMBOK Guide, 8th edition.

Can a beginner or site engineer take this course?

The training is open to anyone building construction project management skills, and site engineers moving into PM roles benefit greatly. To sit the exam, you still need to meet PMI's module and experience requirements, which our advisors can help you plan.

What are the four mandatory PMI-CP prerequisite modules?

Before applying, you complete four self-paced PMI modules in any order: Project Communications, Interface Management, Scope and Change Order Management, and Contract and Risk Management. Each awards 14 PDUs, for 56 PDUs in total, usable toward renewal.

Is the courseware aligned with the current PMI-CP standard?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the current PMI-CP Examination Content Outline and underpinned by the PMBOK Guide, Eighth Edition, so you prepare against the standard the exam is actually built on.

Are practice tests and mock exams included?

Yes. The programme includes practice questions, full-length mock exams and topic-wise quizzes mapped to the 120-question ECO format, helping you identify weak areas across the four domains and build exam confidence.
