The PfMP exam is a closed-book, multiple-choice examination based on the PfMP Examination Content Outline and the Standard for Portfolio Management, Fourth Edition. It uses scenario and situational questions across five performance domains.

How many questions are on the PfMP exam and how long is it?

The exam has 170 questions and a four-hour (240-minute) allotted time. It is delivered via Pearson VUE OnVUE online proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre, including centres accessible from Kyoto.

What is the passing score for the PfMP exam?

PMI does not publish a fixed percentage pass mark. The result is determined through psychometric analysis, with domain-level feedback such as Above Target or Target, so focus on broad mastery across all five domains.

What is the PfMP panel review?

The panel review is a multi-rater assessment unique to PfMP. A panel of portfolio management practitioners evaluates your documented portfolio experience and competency. It must be passed alongside the written exam to earn the credential.

What happens if I do not pass the exam first time?
