Is the PgMP worth it for programme leaders in Italy?

The PgMP is held by fewer than 3,000 people worldwide, so it is a strong differentiator for senior candidates.

How is the PgMP different from the PMP?

The PMP validates managing individual projects, while the PgMP validates managing multiple related projects as a programme to deliver strategic benefits. The PgMP is more senior, with stricter eligibility and an additional multi-rater panel review alongside the written exam.

Is the PgMP recognised in Italy?

Yes. The PgMP is a globally recognised PMI credential valued by employers across Italy and worldwide, including IT and consulting firms, banks, energy and infrastructure groups, and public bodies running large, strategy-critical programmes.

How long is the PgMP valid and how do I renew it?

The PgMP is valid for three years. To maintain it, you earn 60 professional development units (PDUs) across the PMI Talent Triangle within each three-year continuing certification requirements (CCR) cycle, with a minimum of eight PDUs in each area.

Is the PMI exam fee included in the training price?

No. PMI bills the PgMP exam fee separately in USD under regional pricing (for reference, around USD 800 for members and USD 1,000 for non-members; verify current fees at pmi.org). PMI membership, roughly USD 139 per year, can reduce the exam cost.

What is the format of the PgMP exam?

The PgMP exam is a closed-book, multiple-choice examination based on the PgMP Examination Content Outline and aligned to The Standard for Program Management, Fourth Edition. It uses scenario-based questions across five performance domains.

How many questions are on the PgMP exam and how long is it?

The PgMP exam has 170 questions and an allotted time of four hours (240 minutes). It is delivered via Pearson VUE OnVUE online proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre.

What is the passing score for the PgMP exam?

PMI does not publish a fixed percentage pass mark. The result is determined through psychometric analysis, with domain-level feedback reported as Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement, so aim for broad mastery across all five domains.

What is the PgMP panel review?

The panel review is a multi-rater assessment unique to the PgMP. A panel of programme management practitioners evaluates your documented experience and competency. It must be passed in addition to the written exam to earn the credential.

What if I do not pass the exam on the first attempt?

PMI allows up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period. Re-examination fees apply to the second and third attempts. Our preparation and practice resources are designed to help you sit the exam ready.

What topics does the PgMP training cover?

The training covers the five PgMP performance domains: Strategic Program Management (11 percent), Program Life Cycle Management (44 percent), Benefits Management (11 percent), Stakeholder Engagement (16 percent) and Governance (18 percent), plus application and exam strategy.

Which standard and edition is the training based on?

The courseware is aligned to PMI's Standard for Program Management, Fourth Edition, and the current PgMP Examination Content Outline (ECO). This is the authoritative reference for the exam's five performance domains.

Are practice questions and mock exams included?

Yes. The programme includes practice questions, full-length mock exams and topic-wise quizzes mapped to the PgMP ECO, helping you identify weak areas and build readiness for the 170-question exam.

Do I need prior experience to take this training?

Anyone can attend the training, but the PgMP exam requires substantial experience. You should plan to meet PMI's programme and project management experience thresholds before applying. The training also serves as valuable exam preparation for experienced leaders.

What learning materials are provided?

You receive PMI-aligned courseware, references to the PgMP ECO and Handbook, an overview of The Standard for Program Management, Fourth Edition, templates, flashcards and chapter-wise quizzes to support your revision.

What are the eligibility requirements for the PgMP exam?

PMI offers three eligibility sets. With a secondary diploma you need four years of project management experience (or an active PMP) plus seven years of programme experience; with a four-year degree you need four years of each. All experience must be within the past 15 years.

How do I enrol in the PgMP course in Italy?
