Exam

How many exams are in the combined programme?

There are two separate EXIN BCS exams: the Foundation exam and the Practitioner exam. You must sit and pass both to hold both credentials. The training prepares you for each in sequence.

What is the format and duration of the exams?

Each exam has 40 questions, runs for 60 minutes and is closed book. The Foundation exam uses single-answer multiple-choice questions, while the Practitioner exam uses scenario-based multiple-choice questions that test applied judgement.

How does the Foundation exam differ from the Practitioner exam?

The Foundation exam tests knowledge and comprehension of business analysis concepts across its topic areas, while the Practitioner exam tests the application and analysis of BA techniques through realistic project scenarios. Both are 40 questions in 60 minutes.

What is the passing score for the exams?

The passing score is 65 percent for both exams, which is 26 correct answers out of 40. Aim for broad mastery across all the topic areas rather than focusing on a few.

Where can I take the EXIN BCS exams?

You can take both exams online through EXIN's online proctored system or at an accredited testing location. Exams are usually arranged through the accredited training provider as part of the combined programme.

What if I do not pass an exam on the first attempt?

You can resit the exam by booking another voucher. Our training includes mock exams and first-attempt guidance to help you prepare thoroughly. Verify the current resit policy and fees with EXIN before rebooking.

Course Content

What topics does the training cover?

Foundation covers 14 topic areas including investigation techniques, requirements engineering, business process modelling, stakeholder analysis, strategy analysis and business case development. Practitioner covers seven applied topic areas, all assessed through scenarios.

Do I need prior experience to take this course?

No. The Foundation level has no formal prerequisites and is open to all. The Foundation Certificate is the recommended prerequisite for the Practitioner level, which the combined programme covers in sequence.

Are practice tests and mock exams included?

Yes. The programme includes Foundation and Practitioner practice questions and full mock exams, plus industry case studies, so you can identify weak areas and build readiness for both exams.

Is the courseware aligned to the latest specification?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the current EXIN BCS Business Analysis Foundation and Practitioner Examination Specifications and the BCS Business Analysis Body of Knowledge.

Will I receive a certificate of completion?

Yes. After completing the 32-hour programme and meeting the course requirements you receive a course completion certificate. On passing each exam you also receive the official EXIN digital certificate and badge.

What are the eligibility requirements to enrol?

Anyone can enrol in the training. The Foundation exam has no formal prerequisites, and the Foundation Certificate is the recommended prerequisite for the Practitioner exam, which the combined course prepares you for in order.
