What PgMP Unlocks for Program Leaders in DublinRoles, Demand, Salary

The PgMP has become a senior marker of programme leadership in Dublin, valued by the technology, financial services, life-sciences and consulting employers that run large, strategy-critical programmes. As record foreign investment fuels multi-year transformation and regulatory-change work, credentialed programme leaders are increasingly sought after. Demand sits at the senior end, from Programme Manager to Programme Director and Head of PMO, and here is what the market is telling us right now.

Market Forces Driving PgMP Demand in Dublin

    Transformation Programme Overload

Record FDI brought 323 project announcements to Ireland in 2025, and multinationals now run overlapping multi-year programmes that demand experienced, credentialed programme leaders to keep delivery on track.

PgMP builds programme life-cycle and governance skills

    Strategy-To-Delivery Gap

Boards fund digital and AI programmes, but weak links between strategy and the funded work cause value leakage. PgMP holders are hired to plan, map and realise the benefits these programmes promise.

    PgMP builds benefits-management skills

    Regulatory Change in Financial Services

Dublin's IFSC and aircraft-leasing sector face constant compliance and reporting change, requiring programme-grade governance and stakeholder coordination across many interdependent projects.

PgMP builds stakeholder and governance skills

    Scarcity of Certified Programme Leaders

Ireland's talent pool is deep in project managers but thin in credentialed programme managers. The PgMP's advanced eligibility and panel review make holders rare and highly sought-after.

PgMP makes certified programme leaders stand out

    AI and Digital Programme Complexity

IDA's growth drivers of AI, semiconductors and digitalisation push firms into complex programmes that need portfolio-grade prioritisation, risk aggregation and cross-project coordination at scale.

PgMP builds risk and coordination skills

    Benefits and Capital-Efficiency Pressure

With capital under scrutiny, organisations must prove that programmes deliver value, not just outputs. Programme leaders who can govern and measure benefits are increasingly essential.

Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

The PgMP (Program Management Professional) is PMI's senior credential for professionals who manage multiple related projects as one coordinated programme to achieve strategic benefits. It is designed for senior programme managers, PMO heads, directors of delivery and transformation leaders with substantial programme experience.

    General

What is the PgMP certification and who is it for?

The PgMP (Program Management Professional) is PMI's senior credential for professionals who manage multiple related projects as one coordinated programme to achieve strategic benefits. It is designed for senior programme managers, PMO heads, directors of delivery and transformation leaders with substantial programme experience.

Is the PgMP worth it for professionals in Dublin?

Yes. The PgMP signals senior programme leadership to Dublin's technology, financial services and life-sciences employers, who run large, strategy-critical programmes. Programme manager roles average around €100,000 and programme director bands reach €130,000 and beyond, so certified leaders are in strong demand.

Is the PgMP recognised in Ireland?

Yes. The PgMP is a globally recognised PMI credential valued by employers across Ireland and worldwide, including the multinationals, banks and consultancies based in Dublin. With fewer than 3,000 holders globally, it is a distinctive differentiator.

Do I need a PMP before taking the PgMP?

No. The PMP is not a mandatory prerequisite for the PgMP. However, an active PMP satisfies the project management experience requirement across all three eligibility sets, so PMP holders only need to document their programme management experience.

How long is the PgMP certification valid?

The PgMP is valid for three years. To maintain it, you earn 60 PDUs across the PMI Talent Triangle within each three-year continuing certification requirements (CCR) cycle, with a minimum of eight PDUs in each area.

    Pricing

What is included in the PgMP course fee?

The training fee typically includes PMI-aligned courseware, 24 contact hours of instruction, practice questions, mock exams, exam simulator access, application and panel-review support, learner support and a course completion certificate. Request a quote for the full inclusions.

How much does PgMP training cost in Dublin?

PgMP training in Dublin is quoted in euros and varies by format and cohort. The PMI exam fee is billed separately by PMI in USD under regional pricing and is not part of the training fee. Talk to a learning advisor for current pricing.

Is the PMI exam fee included in the training price?

No. PMI bills the PgMP exam fee separately in USD under regional pricing (for reference, around USD 800 for members and USD 1,000 for non-members; verify at pmi.org). Membership can also reduce your exam and renewal costs.

Do you offer corporate or group discounts for PgMP training?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for PMOs, transformation offices and leadership teams in Dublin. Contact us for a tailored group quote.

What payment methods and instalment options are available?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, and offer instalment options on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you.

    Exam

How is the PgMP exam structured?

The PgMP exam is a closed-book, multiple-choice examination of 170 questions with a four-hour allotted time. It is based on the PgMP Examination Content Outline and The Standard for Program Management, Fourth Edition, and is delivered online or at a test centre.

What are the PgMP exam domains and their weights?

The exam covers five performance domains: Strategic Program Management (11%), Program Life Cycle Management (44%), Benefits Management (11%), Stakeholder Engagement (16%) and Governance (18%).

What is the passing score for the PgMP exam?

PMI does not publish a fixed numeric pass mark. The result is determined through psychometric analysis and reported with domain-level feedback (Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement), so aim for broad mastery across all five domains.

What is the PgMP panel review?

The panel review is a multi-rater assessment unique to the PgMP. A panel of programme management practitioners evaluates your documented experience and competency. It is a mandatory step alongside the written exam, and both must be passed to earn the credential.

What happens if I do not pass the exam the first time?

PMI permits up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period from application approval. Our training and practice resources are designed to prepare you thoroughly; re-examination fees apply to the second and third attempts.

Where can I take the PgMP exam?

You can sit the exam online through Pearson VUE's OnVUE proctored system or at a Pearson VUE test centre in Dublin or elsewhere. Scheduling is done through PMI's portal or the Pearson VUE website.

    Course Content

What topics does the PgMP training cover?

The training covers all five PgMP domains: Strategic Program Management, Program Life Cycle Management, Benefits Management, Stakeholder Engagement and Governance, plus guidance on the application, panel review and exam strategy.

How many contact hours does the training provide?

The programme provides 24 contact hours of instructor-led training. The PgMP has no mandatory contact-hour prerequisite, so these hours serve as focused exam preparation and knowledge consolidation for candidates who already meet the experience requirements.

What learning resources and materials are provided?

You receive PMI-aligned courseware, references to the PgMP Examination Content Outline and Handbook, an overview of The Standard for Program Management, templates, flashcards, chapter-wise quizzes and practice questions.

Is the courseware aligned to the current standard?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the current PgMP Examination Content Outline and The Standard for Program Management, Fourth Edition, the primary reference framework for the exam.

Are mock exams and practice questions included?

Yes. The programme includes practice questions mapped to the ECO, full-length mock exams and an exam simulator that mirrors the 170-question, four-hour format, helping you identify weak areas and build readiness.

    Enrollment

What are the eligibility requirements for the PgMP?

PMI offers three eligibility sets. With a secondary diploma you need four years of project management experience (or an active PMP) plus seven years of programme management experience; with a four-year degree you need four years of each; a GAC-accredited degree reduces these thresholds. A panel review also applies.

How do I enrol in the PgMP course in Dublin?

You can enrol through the Invensis Learning website. Choose your preferred format, complete payment, and you will receive access to schedules, courseware and learning resources. Talk to a learning advisor to see upcoming batches.

    What training formats are available?

We offer online (live virtual) instructor-led training, classroom training and customised corporate group training, so you can choose the format that fits your schedule and learning style in Dublin.

Can I reschedule or transfer my enrolment to another batch?

Yes. Flexi options let you reschedule or transfer to another batch, and selected plans include a Flexi Pass to attend the training twice. Contact support to arrange this.

What is the refund or cancellation policy?

Refunds and cancellations are handled per our published policy, and selected plans include a money-back guarantee. Reach out to our team for the details that apply to your enrolment.
