What Is Driving Demand for QFD Skills in Fiji

    Distance-To-Market Design Risk

Fiji's exporters sit far from their end markets, so getting a product right first time matters. QFD front-loads customer requirements to cut expensive late redesigns and rework.

QFD reduces costly late design changes

    Rising Export Quality Expectations

Premium brands in bottled water and Fijian Made goods must meet strict overseas specifications. QFD converts those customer expectations into measurable engineering targets.

QFD translates customer needs into targets

    Unstructured Product Development

Many Fijian food and beverage producers are small, family-run teams without a formal design process. The House of Quality gives them a lightweight, repeatable way to build products.

QFD gives small teams a clear method

    Service Design in Tourism

Fiji's hospitality sector must turn guest expectations into consistent service standards. QFD for services links customer needs to delivery processes and quality controls.

QFD applies to services, not just products

    Value-Added Diversification

Moving from raw exports to processed, packaged goods needs customer-driven design choices. QFD helps prioritise the features and characteristics that matter most to buyers.

QFD prioritises the features customers value

    Scarce Quality Methodology Skills

Fiji has a thin pool of staff trained in structured quality and design methods. Professionals who can build and read a House of Quality are rare and sought-after.

    QFD-trained professionals stand out

The QFD Skills You Will Put to WorkPractical House of Quality Capability

What you will learn in Quality Function Deployment training is a complete, practical toolkit for customer-driven design. By the end of the one-day programme you can capture the Voice of the Customer, build and interpret a House of Quality, and cascade requirements through to production.

Capture the Voice of the Customer

What you will learn in QFD training starts here: gather and structure customer requirements using interviews, observation, surveys and the affinity diagram, then organise them into primary, secondary and tertiary needs.

Classify Needs with the Kano Model

Sort customer requirements into Must-be, Performance and Delighter needs so you invest design effort where it creates the most satisfaction, and weight requirements by importance.

    Build the House of Quality

Construct the full House of Quality step by step, from customer requirements and engineering characteristics to the relationship matrix, competitive benchmarking and engineering targets.

    Read the Correlation Roof

Use the roof of the House of Quality to reveal where improving one engineering characteristic harms another, then resolve design conflicts and trade-offs before they reach production.

    Prioritise with Column Importance

Calculate absolute and relative technical importance, find the vital few characteristics that drive customer satisfaction, and locate design hot spots that need innovation.

    Cascade QFD Through Four Phases

Carry customer requirements through product planning, parts deployment, process planning and production planning, creating a traceable link from the Voice of the Customer to quality controls.

    General

What is Quality Function Deployment (QFD)?

Quality Function Deployment is a structured, customer-driven methodology for translating the Voice of the Customer into specific engineering and process characteristics. Developed in Japan by Yoji Akao and Shigeru Mizuno, its main tool is the House of Quality, a planning matrix that links customer requirements to design decisions.

Who should attend QFD training in Fiji?

The training suits product designers, design and quality engineers, product managers, marketing and R&D professionals, and continuous improvement staff. In Fiji it is especially relevant to food processing, beverage, bottled water and export businesses that need customer-driven product and service design.

Is QFD training worth it for Fiji professionals?

Yes. QFD gives you an applied, in-demand skill that helps you design quality in from the start, cut costly late changes and stand out in Fiji's export-focused industries. It maps to roles from quality engineer to product and quality manager. Talk to a learning advisor to see how it fits your goals.

Do I need prior experience to learn QFD?

No. There are no formal prerequisites and the course introduces QFD and the House of Quality from first principles. Some familiarity with product development or quality management is helpful but not required, so beginners and experienced professionals can both benefit.

What is the House of Quality?

The House of Quality is the central QFD planning matrix. It captures customer requirements, the engineering characteristics that address them, the strength of each relationship, design conflicts in its correlation roof, competitive benchmarking, and the engineering targets your design must meet.

    Pricing

How much does QFD training cost in Fiji?

Pricing depends on the delivery format, group size and whether you choose public or onsite corporate training, so a current quote is available on request. Contact a learning advisor for the latest fees for individual and group enrolments in Fiji.

What is included in the QFD course fee?

The fee covers instructor-led training across all six QFD modules, structured courseware, hands-on House of Quality exercises, templates and case studies, learner support, and a course completion certificate from Invensis Learning. Request a quote to confirm current inclusions.

Do you offer group or corporate pricing?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for product, quality and manufacturing teams. It is a cost-effective way to train a whole cross-functional team together. Ask about corporate or group pricing for your organisation.

    Are payment options available?

Yes. We accept major cards and bank transfers, and instalment options are available on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you or your organisation.

Does the fee include learning materials?

Yes. Your enrolment includes structured course materials, House of Quality templates, worked examples and quizzes used during the programme, so you leave with practical tools you can reuse at work. Contact us for the full list of included resources.

    Assessment

Is there an exam for QFD training?

No. QFD training is a practical, non-assessment-based skills programme. Learning is reinforced through hands-on House of Quality exercises, case studies and team discussion rather than a formal test, so you focus on applying the method.

Will I receive anything on completing the QFD course?

Yes. You receive a course completion certificate from Invensis Learning once you finish the one-day programme. It records that you have completed practical QFD and House of Quality training you can apply immediately at work.

How is learning checked during the course?

Learning is checked through practical activity, not a graded test. You build a Voice of the Customer structure, classify needs with the Kano model, and construct a full House of Quality, so the trainer sees your understanding through the exercises you complete.

    Is QFD a certification?

No. QFD is a methodology and skills training course, not a certification, and it has no external governing body or examination. It builds practical capability in customer-driven design that applies across manufacturing, services and new product development.

Do the skills need renewal over time?

No. There is nothing to renew. The QFD and House of Quality skills you gain are immediately applicable and do not expire, so you can keep using them on product and service projects throughout your career.

    Course Content

What will I learn in the QFD training?

You will learn to capture and structure the Voice of the Customer, apply the Kano model, build and interpret the full House of Quality, resolve design conflicts using the correlation roof, calculate design priorities, and cascade requirements through the four QFD phases to production.

What topics and modules are covered?

The programme covers six modules: QFD principles and business case, Voice of the Customer capture, building the House of Quality, interpreting it for design decisions, the four-phase QFD cascade, and QFD in Design for Six Sigma, DMAIC and service design.

Does the course include hands-on House of Quality practice?

Yes. Hands-on House of Quality construction runs throughout the day. You structure customer needs with an affinity diagram, classify them with the Kano model, and build a complete House of Quality from a realistic product or service scenario.

Does QFD apply to services as well as products?

Yes. While QFD began in manufacturing, the course covers QFD for services such as tourism, hospitality, healthcare and financial services, plus software. The House of Quality applies anywhere customer requirements must be translated into design or delivery specifications.

How long is the QFD training?

The course is delivered in one day of eight hours, covering all six QFD modules with concept explanations, real-world examples and hands-on House of Quality exercises. An extended two half-day format is also available for the same eight hours of content.
