What Is Design for Six Sigma and Why Learn It?UntitledYour Route to First-Time Quality

Design for Six Sigma Training in Fiji equips product designers, engineers and quality professionals with a structured way to design new products, services and processes that meet customer needs and reach Six Sigma quality from the very start. Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) is the proactive counterpart to DMAIC: rather than fixing defects after they surface, it builds quality in during design using the DMADV roadmap (Define, Measure, Analyse, Design, Verify). This one-day, instructor-led programme walks you through each DMADV phase and the tools behind it, from Voice of the Customer and Kano analysis to CTQ flow-down, Quality Function Deployment, the Pugh concept selection matrix, Design FMEA and robust design. Hands-on exercises use realistic design scenarios, so you leave able to apply the method to live projects. For Fiji's manufacturers in bottled water, food and beverage, dairy, packaging and consumer goods, DFSS is a high-leverage skill: it reduces late design changes, warranty costs and rework while speeding new products to market. Start building design-quality capability with Invensis Learning.

Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) training is a practical, non-certification programme that teaches you to design new products, services and processes that meet customer needs and reach Six Sigma quality from the start. It covers the DMADV roadmap and core design-quality tools such as VOC, QFD, the Pugh matrix, DFMEA and robust design.

    General

What is Design for Six Sigma training?

Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) training is a practical, non-certification programme that teaches you to design new products, services and processes that meet customer needs and reach Six Sigma quality from the start. It covers the DMADV roadmap and core design-quality tools such as VOC, QFD, the Pugh matrix, DFMEA and robust design.

Who should attend DFSS training in Fiji?

The training suits product and design engineers, R&D professionals, new-product-development managers, quality engineers, manufacturing engineers and Six Sigma Green and Black Belts. It is ideal for anyone in Fiji's manufacturers who designs new products, services or processes.

How is DFSS different from DMAIC?

DMAIC improves existing processes that are underperforming, while DFSS designs new products, services and processes correctly from the outset using the DMADV roadmap. DMAIC fixes what already exists; DFSS prevents defects by designing quality in. This course covers DFSS and DMADV.

Do I need prior Six Sigma knowledge?

No. There are no prerequisites. Familiarity with basic Six Sigma ideas such as CTQ and variation is helpful but not required, as the course introduces every DFSS tool and the DMADV method from first principles.

Is DFSS worth learning in Fiji?

Yes. Fiji's manufacturers in bottled water, food and beverage, packaging, dairy and consumer goods increasingly compete on consistent quality for local and export markets. Being able to design quality in reduces rework, warranty costs and time to market, making DFSS a high-value, practical skill.

    Pricing

How much does Design for Six Sigma training cost in Fiji?

Fees vary by delivery format (live online, classroom or corporate on-site) and group size, so pricing is best confirmed on request. Contact a learning advisor for a quote tailored to your needs. Request a quote to see current options.

What is included in the course fee?

The fee typically includes instructor-led training across all six DFSS modules, structured courseware, hands-on tool exercises covering VOC, QFD, the Pugh matrix and Design FMEA, and a course completion certificate from Invensis Learning. Format and inclusions are confirmed at enrolment.

Do you offer corporate or group pricing?

Yes. We offer corporate and group rates for teams, with customised schedules and content built around your live design projects, and volume-based pricing is available. Ask about corporate and group pricing for your team in Fiji.

Is there an exam or certification fee?

No. Design for Six Sigma is a non-certification course, so there is no examination and no separate exam fee. You receive a course completion certificate from Invensis Learning at the end of the programme.

    What payment options are available?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, and can discuss suitable arrangements for corporate bookings. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that works best for you.

    Assessment

Is there an exam for DFSS training?

No. This is a non-certification skills course with no examination. Learning is reinforced through hands-on DFSS tool exercises, case-study examples and team discussion during the programme.

What will I receive on completion?

You receive a course completion certificate from Invensis Learning. There is no external credential or awarding body, as the training focuses on building practical DFSS methodology and tool skills you can apply immediately.

    How is my learning assessed?

There is no formal assessment. Instead, you apply DMADV tools such as VOC to CTQ flow-down, QFD, the Pugh matrix and Design FMEA to realistic design scenarios throughout the day, so you practise the method as you learn it.

Will I be able to apply DFSS at work straight away?

Yes. By the end you can apply the DMADV roadmap, run VOC workshops, build a QFD House of Quality, use the Pugh matrix, conduct a Design FMEA and plan design verification, all skills you can take directly to live projects.

Does this course lead to a formal certification?

No formal certification is awarded and no governing body oversees the training. It is a practical skills programme that builds design-quality capability, and it pairs well with Lean Six Sigma and Minitab training if you want to go further.

    Course Content

What topics does the DFSS course cover?

The course covers the full DMADV roadmap: DFSS versus DMAIC, the Define phase (charter, VOC, Kano), the Measure phase (CTQ flow-down and QFD), the Analyse phase (concept generation, Pugh matrix, DFMEA), the Design phase (robust design, P-diagram, DFMA) and the Verify phase (verification, validation, design scorecard and transfer).

    How long is the training?

The programme runs for one day (about 8 hours) and can also be delivered as two half-day sessions. It covers all six DMADV modules with concept explanations and hands-on tool exercises throughout.

    Are there hands-on exercises?

Yes. You work through practical exercises on VOC to CTQ flow-down, building a QFD House of Quality, running a Pugh concept selection matrix and completing a Design FMEA, all applied to realistic product or process design scenarios.

Can a beginner take this course?

Yes. There are no prerequisites, and every tool and the DMADV method are taught from first principles. Some familiarity with basic Six Sigma concepts is helpful but not needed to keep up.

What tools will I learn to use?

You learn Voice of the Customer and Kano analysis, CTQ flow-down, Quality Function Deployment (House of Quality), concept generation, the Pugh selection matrix, Design FMEA and RPN, the P-diagram and robust design, and design verification and validation methods.
