What is the PfMP certification and who is it for?

Is the PfMP worth it for professionals in Egypt?

Yes. The PfMP signals senior portfolio leadership to Egyptian employers in telecom, banking, construction and consulting, and maps to well-paid roles such as Head of PMO and Portfolio Director. As PMOs mature and mega-projects scale, certified portfolio leaders are in growing demand.

Which standard is the PfMP based on?

The PfMP is based on PMI's Standard for Portfolio Management, Fourth Edition, and the current PfMP Examination Content Outline. Training aligns to this fourth edition and the five performance domains it defines.

Do I need PMP or PgMP before PfMP?

No. Neither PMP nor PgMP is a prerequisite for the PfMP. Eligibility is based on general business experience and portfolio management experience, though many senior portfolio leaders hold one or both credentials.

How long is the PfMP certification valid?

The PfMP is valid for three years. To maintain it, you earn 60 PDUs across the PMI Talent Triangle, with at least 8 PDUs in each area, within every three-year continuing certification requirements cycle.

How much is the PfMP exam fee?

For reference, PMI lists the PfMP exam at around USD 800 for members and USD 1,000 for non-members. Actual fees vary, so confirm current amounts on pmi.org. PMI membership can reduce the exam fee.

What happens if I do not pass the PfMP exam first time?

You may take up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period. Re-examination fees apply to the second and third attempts, and our preparation, mock exams and trainer support are designed to help you pass with confidence.

How many questions are on the PfMP exam and how long is it?

The PfMP exam has 170 questions and a four-hour (240-minute) allotted time. It is closed book and uses multiple-choice question formats.

What are the PfMP exam domains and their weights?

Five performance domains: Strategic Alignment (25%), Governance (20%), Portfolio Performance (25%), Portfolio Risk Management (14%) and Communications Management (16%), per the PfMP Examination Content Outline.

What is the passing score for the PfMP exam?

PMI does not publish a fixed pass mark. Results are set through psychometric analysis and reported as Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement by domain, so aim for broad mastery across all five domains.

What is the PfMP panel review?

The panel review is a multi-rater assessment unique to the PfMP. A panel of portfolio practitioners evaluates your documented portfolio experience. You must pass both the panel review and the written exam to earn the credential.

Where can I take the PfMP exam in Egypt?

You can sit the exam via Pearson VUE OnVUE online proctoring from home or office, or at a Pearson VUE test centre. Scheduling is done through PMI's portal or Pearson VUE within your one-year eligibility window.
