    What is the format of the CSM exam?

    The CSM exam is an online, open-book, multiple-choice test taken through the Scrum Alliance member portal after you complete an approved course. It is based on the Scrum Alliance CSM Learning Objectives and aligned to the current 2020 Scrum Guide.

    How many questions are on the CSM exam and how long is it?

    The exam has 50 multiple-choice questions and a time limit of 60 minutes. It is taken online without a proctor once you have completed your approved CSM course.

    What is the passing score for the CSM exam?

    The passing score is 74 percent, which means answering at least 37 of the 50 questions correctly. Focus on broad understanding across Scrum theory, values, the team, events, artifacts and the Scrum Master role.

    What if I do not pass the CSM exam the first time?

    You typically have up to three attempts to pass within 90 days of completing your course, at no extra cost, and the exam is open book. Our training and practice questions are designed to help you pass on your first attempt. Verify the current attempt policy at scrumalliance.org.

    Do I have to attend a course to sit the CSM exam?

    Yes. Attendance at an approved CSM course delivered by a Certified Scrum Trainer is mandatory. The exam cannot be accessed without completing the course, and you have 90 days from course completion to sit it.

    What will I learn in the CSM training?

    You will learn the full Scrum Alliance CSM Learning Objectives: Scrum theory and the three pillars, the five Scrum values, the Scrum Team and its accountabilities, all five Scrum events, the three artifacts and their commitments, and the servant-leader Scrum Master role.

    How long is the CSM course?

    The CSM programme is delivered as 16 hours of instruction, usually as two full days or four half-days depending on the schedule. This exceeds the Scrum Alliance minimum contact-hours requirement for CSM courses.

    Is the courseware aligned to the latest Scrum Guide?

    Yes. The courseware is aligned to the Scrum Alliance CSM Learning Objectives and the current Scrum Guide, the 2020 edition by Ken Schwaber and Jeff Sutherland, which introduced the Product Goal and the three artifact commitments.

    Are practice questions and materials included?

    Yes. You receive Scrum Alliance aligned courseware, industry case studies, and practice questions mapped to the CSM exam format to help you revise and build exam readiness.

    What is the next step after CSM?
