    Do I need project management experience to start?

    What is the difference between the Fundamentals and Advanced levels?

    Do I need a Microsoft Project licence, and is it included?

    You are expected to have Microsoft Project installed and accessible on your device for the hands-on exercises. Microsoft Project is a separate product from Microsoft Corporation. Ask us whether a trial licence is available with your chosen format.

    Is there an exam for Microsoft Project Training?

    No. This is a non-certification skills course, so neither the Fundamentals nor the Advanced level includes an exam. Your learning is reinforced through live, hands-on Microsoft Project exercises on realistic project scenarios throughout the programme.

    Do I receive anything on completing the course?

    Yes. On completing the training you receive a course completion record from Invensis Learning. It recognises that you have completed the programme and built practical Microsoft Project skills you can apply straight away at work.

    How is learning checked during the course?

    There is no formal assessment. Instead, you follow along in Microsoft Project as the trainer demonstrates each feature, then practise on realistic exercises. This learn-by-doing approach builds genuine software proficiency during the sessions.

    Does this training support PMP or PRINCE2 practitioners?

    Yes. Microsoft Project is the scheduling tool many project management practitioners use to apply their methodology in practice. These skills complement PMP, PRINCE2 and other project management training by helping you build and control real schedules.

    Is any prior software knowledge required?

    For Fundamentals, no. Comfort with Windows and Microsoft Office is helpful but not essential. For the Advanced level you should have hands-on Microsoft Project experience at Fundamentals level or the equivalent before attending.

    What will I learn in the Fundamentals level?

    You learn to create a project and calendar, build a work breakdown structure, link tasks with dependencies, read the critical path, create and assign resources, set a baseline, track progress with % complete, and generate built-in status reports.

    What does the Advanced level cover?

    Advanced covers task types and the scheduling formula, resource pools and levelling, cost management, Earned Value metrics such as SPI, CPI and EAC, custom fields, views and reports, master projects with cross-project links, and what-if scenario planning.

    Does the training include hands-on practice?

    Yes. Both levels are delivered with live Microsoft Project exercises throughout. You follow each feature in the software using realistic project scenarios, which is how you build lasting, practical proficiency rather than theory alone.

    Which version of Microsoft Project is used?

    The training focuses on the core scheduling capabilities common across Microsoft Project, including the desktop editions (Standard and Professional) and Microsoft 365 / Project Online. Confirm the exact version and setup with Invensis Learning before your session.
