Questions are distributed across the five performance domains and delivered via Pearson VUE OnVUE online proctoring or a test centre.

    How many questions are on the PfMP exam and how long is it?

    The PfMP exam has 170 questions and an allotted time of four hours (240 minutes). It uses scenario-based multiple-choice questions across strategic alignment, governance, portfolio performance, portfolio risk management and communications management.

    What is the PfMP panel review?

    The panel review is a multi-rater assessment unique to the PfMP. A panel of portfolio management practitioners evaluates your documented portfolio experience and competency. It is a mandatory step in addition to the written exam, and both must be passed to earn the credential.

    What is the passing score for the PfMP exam?

    PMI does not publish a fixed percentage pass mark. The result is determined through psychometric analysis, with domain-level feedback reported as Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement, so aim for broad mastery across all five domains.

    What happens if I do not pass, can I retake it?

    What are the eligibility requirements to sit the PfMP exam?

    Anyone can enrol in the training. To sit the PfMP exam, PMI requires 10 years (120 months) of business experience within the last 15 years, plus portfolio management experience (84 months with a secondary diploma or 48 months with a four-year degree) and a subject-matter-expert panel review.
