What is the format of the PRINCE2 Practitioner exam?

It is an open-book, scenario-based objective test using multiple-choice, matching, sequence and assertion-reason questions. The PRINCE2 Managing Successful Projects manual is permitted, and questions require analysis and judgement rather than simple recall.

How many questions are on the exam and how long is it?

The exam has 56 questions and sub-questions worth 70 marks, and you have 150 minutes (2 hours 30 minutes) to complete it. It is delivered online through PeopleCert OnVUE proctoring or at an authorised test centre.

What does open book mean for the Practitioner exam?

You may use the PRINCE2 Managing Successful Projects 7th Edition manual during the exam. However, the scenario-based questions require analysis and judgement, so you cannot simply look up answers. Efficient manual navigation and deep method knowledge are both essential.

What is the passing score for the exam?

You need 60% to pass, which is 42 out of 70 marks. Because questions are scenario based, broad mastery of applying and tailoring the method matters more than memorising isolated facts.

What if I do not pass the first time?

You can resit the Practitioner exam. Our training includes scenario practice and exam technique to build your readiness, and selected plans offer retake support. Confirm the current PeopleCert resit policy and any retake options with your advisor.

What topics does the PRINCE2 Practitioner training cover?

The training covers all nine Practitioner syllabus areas: the seven principles, the seven practices, the seven processes, key roles, People management, sustainability and ESG, digital and data management, effective communication, and tailoring PRINCE2 to your needs.

Which edition is the course based on?

The course is based on the PRINCE2 7th Edition (2023), aligned to the PRINCE2 7 Managing Successful Projects manual and the current PeopleCert Practitioner syllabus. This is the latest standard for PRINCE2.

Do I need PRINCE2 Foundation before this course?

Yes, you need PRINCE2 Foundation or an accepted equivalent such as PMP, CAPM or IPMA before sitting the Practitioner exam. If you do not hold one, complete Foundation first, and we can guide you on the fastest route.

Are practice materials and mock scenarios included?

What is new in PRINCE2 7 compared with PRINCE2 6?

PRINCE2 7 introduces the People capability as a core element, renames Themes to Practices, and adds commercial management, sustainability and ESG, and digital and data considerations. It also updates the management products and integrates agile and hybrid ways of working.
