    What is the format of the CSM exam?

    The CSM exam is an open-book, multiple-choice test taken online through the Scrum Alliance member portal after you complete the course. It is based on the Scrum Alliance CSM Learning Objectives and the current Scrum Guide (November 2020).

    How many questions are on the CSM exam and how long is it?

    The CSM exam has 50 multiple-choice questions and a 60-minute time limit. It is taken online without a proctor, and you can refer to materials because the exam is open book.

    What is the passing score for the CSM exam?

    You need 74% to pass, which means answering at least 37 of the 50 questions correctly. Because it is open book and aligned to the Scrum Guide, focused study across all six topic areas prepares you well.

    What happens if I do not pass the first time?

    Do I have to attend a course to sit the CSM exam?

    Yes. Attendance at a Scrum Alliance approved CSM course delivered by a Certified Scrum Trainer is mandatory. The exam is unlocked in your Scrum Alliance member portal once you complete the course, and you have 90 days to sit it.

    How long is the CSM training?

    The CSM programme is 16 hours of instruction, which exceeds the Scrum Alliance minimum and meets its course requirements. It is delivered as two full days or four half days depending on the schedule you choose.
