What Is Kanban and Why It Matters for Teams in SenegalUntitledA Practical Pull-Based Workflow System

Kanban Training in Senegal is a practical, one-day skills programme that teaches you to run work as a visual, pull-based flow rather than an overloaded push. Kanban began on the Toyota Production System factory floor, where Taiichi Ohno used simple signal cards to trigger production only when downstream demand called for it, and it was later formalised for knowledge work by David J. Anderson so software, IT and service teams could limit work in progress and improve flow. Across eight hours you learn both sides of the method: manufacturing Kanban (production and withdrawal cards, supermarkets, kanban sizing and just-in-time replenishment) and Agile Kanban (boards, WIP limits, lead time, cycle time, throughput, the cumulative flow diagram and Scrumban). Hands-on exercises let you design a real pull loop or board for your own workflow. As Dakar's manufacturing, logistics, oil and gas and technology employers scale up, teams that make work visible and cap overproduction deliver faster and waste less. This is a non-certification course, so you leave with a course completion record from Invensis Learning and skills you can apply the next day.

The Payoff of Building Kanban SkillsValue for You and Your Team

    For Individuals

    For Individuals

Kanban training helps you turn a busy, overloaded workday into a smooth, visible flow. You learn to map how work really moves, cap what is in progress, and pull the next item only when there is capacity, so delivery becomes faster and more predictable. Whether you run a production line, manage a supply chain, or lead a software, IT or service team, the method gives you a practical toolkit you can apply the moment you return to work.

If you want to stand out in Senegal's growing manufacturing, logistics and technology sectors, hands-on flow and pull-system skills are a clear differentiator. You leave able to design boards and kanban loops, read flow metrics, and lead calmer, more reliable delivery.

    • Make your team's work visible on a single Kanban board
    • Cut overproduction and excess stock with pull-based replenishment
    • Limit work in progress so tasks actually get finished
    • Measure lead time, cycle time and throughput to improve flow
    • Design kanban loops and supermarkets for a real production line
    • Apply Scrumban to blend Kanban with your existing Scrum practice
    • Build a skill valued across Senegal's manufacturing and IT sectors
    For Organizations

    For Organizations

Kanban group training helps organisations deliver more with less waste by giving teams a shared, visual way to manage work. It can be delivered for a production area, a logistics function, or a software and IT team on their own live workflows. For organisations under pressure to cut cost, steady delivery and free up capital, Kanban provides a scalable, low-risk way to improve flow without a disruptive process overhaul.

If your teams start more than they finish or push stock to forecast, Kanban training builds a common discipline of visible work, WIP limits and pull. Senior teams gain a consistent approach to prioritisation, flow and continuous improvement across the business.

    • Standardise pull-based flow across teams and sites
    • Reduce inventory and free up working capital
    • Improve delivery speed and predictability for customers
    • Give teams a shared language for visualising and managing work
    • Surface bottlenecks early with boards and flow metrics
    • Train whole teams together on their own real workflows
    • Flexible onsite, virtual or hybrid delivery for your organisation

Why Kanban Skills Are in Demand Across Senegal

    Overproduction on the Factory Floor

Many Senegalese manufacturers and agribusinesses still produce to forecast, building excess stock that ties up cash and hides defects. Kanban pull production replenishes only on real downstream demand.

Kanban caps overproduction with pull signals

Backlogs in IT and Service Teams

Dakar's fast-growing telecom, fintech and IT teams often take on more work than they can finish, so delivery stalls. WIP limits and Kanban boards restore steady, predictable flow.

Kanban boards make work visible and limit WIP

Complex Oil, Gas and Infrastructure Programmes

Sangomar, Greater Tortue and PPP infrastructure projects run many parallel workstreams at once. Visualising flow and setting clear priorities keeps large programmes moving without overload.

Kanban brings flow and priority to complex work

Pressure on Ports and Supply Chains

Rising trade through Dakar's port demands smooth replenishment between suppliers, warehouses and production lines. Kanban loops and supermarkets steady the flow of materials and cut stockouts.

Kanban steadies replenishment across the chain

    Scarce Flow and Lean Skills

Senegal has a deep operational workforce but few people trained to design pull systems and read flow metrics. That scarcity makes practical Kanban skills a genuine differentiator.

Kanban skills set you apart in the market

    Capital and Margin Discipline

Rising input costs push organisations to cut waste and free up working capital. Capping work in progress and inventory with Kanban delivers exactly that, without a disruptive overhaul.

Before and After You Learn Kanban,

The Shift in Your Working Day

Senegal's manufacturers, logistics operators and technology teams are under pressure to deliver more with less waste, and the teams that visualise work and manage flow pull ahead. Here is the shift Kanban skills make to an ordinary working day.

    Today

Delivery is unpredictable and deadlines slip without warning

    After Kanban

Lead and cycle times you can measure, forecast and steadily reduce

    Today

Only a few senior staff hold real pull and flow know-how

    After Kanban

Skills to design kanban loops and boards that Senegal's employers value

    Today

Bottlenecks stay hidden until they cause a crisis

    After Kanban

Bottlenecks surfaced early on the board and cleared before they bite

    You learn Kanban

    Before

Work is invisible, spread across inboxes, chats and people's heads

    Now you have

A visual board where every task and its status is clear to the whole team

    Before

Everyone starts more than they finish, so little actually ships

    Now you have

WIP limits that make the team finish work before starting more

    Before

Production runs to forecast, piling up excess stock and cost

    Now you have

A pull system that replenishes only on real downstream demand

    Before

Improvement is based on opinion and gut feel, not evidence

    Now you have

Flow metrics and a cumulative flow diagram that show where to improve

"The difference between a team that is busy and a team that delivers is a visible workflow and a hard limit on work in progress."

The Skills You Will BuildPractical Pull and Flow Techniques

This Kanban course builds the practical skills to design and run pull-based systems in both manufacturing and knowledge work. By the end you can size a kanban system, run a board with WIP limits, and read flow metrics to keep improving delivery.

    Design a Pull-Based Production System

In this Kanban training you will learn to design a manufacturing pull system using production and withdrawal cards, supermarkets and simple two-bin signals, so replenishment happens only on real downstream demand instead of a forecast.

Size a Kanban System with Confidence

Calculate the right kanban quantity and number of cards from demand rate, replenishment lead time and a safety factor using takt time, so your system caps inventory by design and never starves or overloads the line.

Build and Run a Kanban Board

Design a board with the right columns, swimlanes, classes of service and a clear Definition of Done, so knowledge-work, IT and service teams can see every item and its status at a glance.

Set and Manage Work in Progress Limits

Set WIP limits that make the team stop starting and start finishing, surface bottlenecks and keep flow moving, then adjust the limits from real data as your process improves.

    Measure Flow with Real Metrics

Measure lead time, cycle time and throughput, apply Little's Law, and read a cumulative flow diagram to spot where work is piling up and where to focus your next improvement.

    Roll Out and Sustain Kanban

Plan a low-risk rollout using the start with what you do now principle, blend Kanban with Scrum as Scrumban, and keep improving so the system stays disciplined over time.

Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

Kanban is a visual, pull-based method for managing work so it flows smoothly instead of piling up. The training covers both manufacturing Kanban, which began in the Toyota Production System, and Agile Kanban for software, IT and service teams, so you can make work visible, limit work in progress and improve delivery.

    General

What is Kanban and how does the training help?

Kanban is a visual, pull-based method for managing work so it flows smoothly instead of piling up. The training covers both manufacturing Kanban, which began in the Toyota Production System, and Agile Kanban for software, IT and service teams, so you can make work visible, limit work in progress and improve delivery.

Who should attend the Kanban training in Senegal?

The course suits production managers, manufacturing and industrial engineers, supply chain and operations professionals, Agile coaches, Scrum Masters, IT and software delivery managers, and anyone responsible for the flow of work through a production or service system.

Is the Kanban course worth it for professionals in Senegal?

Yes. Employers across Senegal's manufacturing, logistics, oil and gas, telecom and IT sectors increasingly value people who can design pull systems and manage flow. The skills apply the next day at work and set you apart in a market with few trained flow and Lean specialists.

Does the course cover both manufacturing and Agile Kanban?

Yes. It covers manufacturing Kanban (production and withdrawal cards, supermarkets, kanban sizing and just-in-time pull) and Agile Kanban (boards, WIP limits, flow metrics, the cumulative flow diagram and Scrumban), so both factory and knowledge-work teams gain directly.

Do I need prior Lean or Agile experience to attend?

No. There are no prerequisites. The course introduces every Kanban concept from first principles, so beginners are welcome. Some familiarity with production or Agile work is helpful for the deeper exercises but is not required.

    Pricing

How much does the Kanban training cost in Senegal?

Pricing depends on the delivery format, group size and schedule, so a current quote is available on request. Share your requirements with a learning advisor and we will provide a tailored price for individual or team training in Senegal.

What is included in the course fee?

The fee covers the full one-day, instructor-led programme, all Kanban course materials, the hands-on design exercises, and a course completion record from Invensis Learning. Ask your advisor for the exact inclusions for your chosen format.

Do you offer corporate or group pricing?

Yes. We offer corporate and group training with tailored schedules and volume-based pricing for production, operations, supply chain and IT teams. Contact us with your team size for a group quote.

Are payment or instalment options available?

Yes. We accept major cards and bank transfers, and instalment options are available on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the payment option that suits you or your organisation.

Is the course available for individuals and teams?

Yes. The training is offered to individual learners through scheduled public sessions and to organisations as tailored corporate group training delivered onsite, live virtual or hybrid across Senegal. Request a quote for the option you need.

    Assessment

Is there an exam for the Kanban course?

No. This is a non-certification skills course, so there is no examination. Your learning is reinforced through hands-on kanban design exercises, case examples and group discussion during the one-day programme.

Do I receive a certificate after the training?

You receive a course completion record from Invensis Learning after finishing the programme. No formal certification or credential is awarded, because Kanban training builds practical skills rather than preparing you for an exam.

How is my learning assessed during the course?

There is no formal assessment. Instead, you apply each concept in practical exercises, such as calculating kanban quantities, designing a pull loop, building a board and setting WIP limits, so you leave able to use the method at work.

How long is the Kanban training?

The course runs for one day, a total of eight hours. It can also be delivered as two half-day sessions. The programme covers Kanban foundations, manufacturing pull systems, boards and WIP limits, flow metrics and implementation.

What will I be able to do after the course?

You will be able to explain push versus pull, design production and withdrawal kanban loops, size a kanban system, build a board with WIP limits and classes of service, measure lead time, cycle time and throughput, read a cumulative flow diagram, and plan a rollout.

    Course Content

What topics does the Kanban training cover?

The programme covers six areas: Kanban origins and pull production, manufacturing Kanban types and mechanics, kanban sizing and implementation, knowledge-work boards and WIP limits, flow metrics and the cumulative flow diagram, and implementing and sustaining Kanban.

What is the difference between production and withdrawal kanban?

A production kanban authorises an upstream process to make a set quantity of a part, while a withdrawal kanban authorises moving parts from a supermarket to the downstream process. Together they form the closed-loop pull system the course teaches you to design.

Are WIP limits and flow metrics covered?

Yes. You learn why WIP limits improve flow and how to set and adjust them, and you learn to measure lead time, cycle time and throughput, apply Little's Law, and interpret a cumulative flow diagram to find and fix bottlenecks.

Does the course include hands-on exercises?

Yes. Hands-on exercises run throughout the day, including push versus pull identification, kanban quantity calculation, kanban loop design, Agile board design, WIP limit setting and cumulative flow diagram interpretation, ideally on your own real workflow.

Is Scrumban covered in the training?

Yes. The course explains Scrumban, which blends Kanban's visual workflow and WIP limits with Scrum's cadence and ceremonies, and when it suits Agile teams. It also shows how Kanban fits alongside frameworks such as SAFe.
