    The PfMP exam is a computer-based, closed-book, multiple-choice examination based on the PfMP Examination Content Outline and the Standard for Portfolio Management, Fourth Edition. It uses scenario and situational questions across five performance domains.

    How many questions are on the PfMP exam and how long is it?

    The exam has 170 questions and an allotted time of four hours. Questions are distributed across the five domains: Strategic Alignment (25%), Governance (20%), Portfolio Performance (25%), Portfolio Risk Management (14%) and Communications Management (16%).

    What is the passing score for the PfMP exam?

    PMI does not publish a fixed percentage pass mark. Results are determined through psychometric analysis and reported as Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement per domain, so focus on broad mastery across all five domains.

    What is the PfMP application and panel review process?

    The PfMP includes a multi-rater panel review in addition to the written exam. A panel of portfolio practitioners evaluates your documented portfolio experience. You must pass both the panel review and the exam to earn the credential; our training guides you through both.
