Why Agile Talent Is in Demand Across Singapore

Agile at Scale in Local Banks

DBS, OCBC and UOB are scaling agile across thousands of staff, and need practitioners who can lead value-driven delivery beyond a single team, the exact capability the PMI-ACP validates.

    PMI-ACP builds value-driven delivery skill

    Smart Nation Delivery Pressure

GovTech and public agencies build citizen services in agile teams, demanding strong stakeholder engagement and adaptive planning that credentialed agile practitioners bring.

PMI-ACP builds stakeholder and planning skill

    Credentialed Agile Talent Shortage

Singapore's pool is deep in Scrum-only certificates but thin in multi-framework practitioners. The PMI-ACP's experience prerequisites make holders rare and sought-after.

PMI-ACP makes multi-framework talent stand out

    AI and Digital Reskilling Wave

The IBF is targeting more than 100,000 finance professionals for AI and agile skills, raising the bar for practitioners who can prove real, applied agile competence.

    PMI-ACP raises proven agile capability

    Framework Sprawl Across Teams

Teams mix Scrum, Kanban, Lean and XP, and employers want practitioners fluent across methods rather than tied to one, which is precisely what the PMI-ACP covers.

    PMI-ACP builds cross-framework fluency

    Value Leakage in Transformation

Large transformation budgets underdeliver without disciplined value-driven delivery and continuous improvement, gaps that certified agile leaders are hired to close.

How to Get PMI-ACP Certified in SingaporeStep-by-Step Certification Process

The path to Online PMI-ACP certification follows a streamlined exam-based process. After completing the required training and obtaining PMI approval, candidates proceed directly to the certification examination administered through Pearson VUE. Unlike some senior PMI credentials, PMI-ACP does not require a peer-panel review. Most candidates complete the journey from training to certification within 6–10 weeks, depending on preparation time and application processing.

    Step 1: Confirm PMI-ACP Eligibility

Verify you meet the PMI-ACP eligibility requirements: a secondary degree (high school diploma, associate's, or global equivalent); 2,000 hours (12 months) of general project experience within the last 5 years; at least 1,500 hours (8 months) of agile project experience within the last 3 years (in addition to the general project experience); and 21 contact hours in agile practices. The agile experience can be on the same projects as the general project experience.

Step 2: Enrol in the 3-Day PMI-ACP Training

Step 3: Register on the PMI Candidate Portal

Create or sign in to your PMI account at pmi.org. PMI membership (~$139/year) is optional but reduces the PMI-ACP exam fee from ~$495 to ~$435 and gives access to the PMI Agile Practice Guide.

Step 4: Submit the PMI-ACP Application to PMI

Submit your application via the PMI candidate portal: document your general and agile project experience and your agile-practices training, and pay the application/exam fee (~$435 PMI member or ~$495 non-member). PMI typically processes applications within 5-10 business days. No peer-panel review is required.

Step 5: Sit the 120-Question PMI-ACP Exam via Pearson VUE

Once approved, you receive a one-year exam eligibility window. Book your PMI-ACP exam through Pearson VUE , online proctored from your home or office in Singapore, or at a Pearson VUE test centre. The exam is 120 multiple-choice scenario questions over 180 minutes, covering all seven agile practitioner domains.

Step 6: Earn the PMI-ACP Credential and Plan CCR Renewal

On passing, PMI issues your PMI-ACP digital badge and certificate. The credential is valid for three years; renew via PMI's Continuing Certification Requirements (CCR) programme by earning 30 PDUs in agile-relevant content across the 3-year cycle.

Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

The PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP) is PMI's cross-framework agile credential, validating your ability to apply agile approaches across Scrum, Kanban, Lean, XP and TDD. It suits Scrum Masters, product owners, agile coaches, and project managers working in agile or hybrid environments.

    General

What is the PMI-ACP certification and who is it for?

The PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP) is PMI's cross-framework agile credential, validating your ability to apply agile approaches across Scrum, Kanban, Lean, XP and TDD. It suits Scrum Masters, product owners, agile coaches, and project managers working in agile or hybrid environments.

Is the PMI-ACP worth it in Singapore?

Yes. PMI's Earning Power survey reports PMI-ACP holders earn around 20% more than uncertified peers, and Singapore employers in banking, government, tech and consulting actively seek credentialed agile practitioners as they scale iterative delivery. Talk to a learning advisor to plan your path.

What agile frameworks does the PMI-ACP cover?

The PMI-ACP spans multiple frameworks including Scrum, Kanban, Lean, Extreme Programming (XP), Test-Driven Development (TDD), Crystal and Feature-Driven Development. It is not tied to one framework, which sets it apart from single-method certifications.

How is the PMI-ACP different from the PMP?

The PMP covers all delivery approaches, predictive, agile and hybrid, while the PMI-ACP is agile-specific and covers multiple agile frameworks in depth. Many professionals hold both, using the PMI-ACP to complement the PMP in agile or hybrid roles.

How long is the PMI-ACP valid and how do I renew it?

The PMI-ACP is valid for three years from the date of certification. To renew it, you earn 30 professional development units (PDUs) in agile topics within the cycle and report them through PMI's Continuing Certification Requirements system.

    Pricing

How much does PMI-ACP training cost in Singapore?

Training fees vary by format and schedule, so pricing is available on request. The fee covers PMI-aligned courseware, practice questions, mock exams and application guidance. Request a quote or ask about corporate and group pricing for your team.

What is included in the course fee?

The course fee typically includes PMI-aligned courseware, the 21 contact hours of agile training, practice questions, full-length mock exams, downloadable templates, PMI application guidance and post-training support, plus a course completion certificate.

How much is the PMI-ACP exam fee?

PMI bills the exam fee separately in USD, and current figures are for reference only: around USD 435 for PMI members and USD 495 for non-members. PMI membership provides access to free resources such as the Agile Practice Guide. Confirm current fees at pmi.org.

    Exam

How many questions are on the PMI-ACP exam and how long is it?

The PMI-ACP exam has 120 multiple-choice questions and a three-hour allotted time. It is closed book and proctored, with questions distributed across the seven agile domains defined in the Examination Content Outline.

What is the passing score for the PMI-ACP exam?

PMI uses a psychometrically determined passing score that is not published as a fixed number. Results are reported as pass or fail, with domain-level feedback of Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement, so aim for broad mastery across all seven domains.

How many attempts do I get for the exam?

You get up to three attempts within the one-year eligibility period that begins when PMI approves your application. Re-examination fees apply to the second and third attempts.

Where can I sit the PMI-ACP exam in Singapore?

You can sit the exam online through Pearson VUE's OnVUE proctoring from home or office, or at a Pearson VUE test centre in Singapore. Scheduling is done via the Pearson VUE website or PMI's portal.

Which version of the exam outline is the exam based on?

The exam is based on the PMI-ACP Examination Content Outline published in January 2018, which defines the seven agile domains and their tasks. It also draws on the Agile Practice Guide and other recognised agile references listed by PMI.

What happens if I do not pass the first time?

You can retake the exam up to three times within your one-year eligibility window, so a first attempt is not your only chance. Our mock exams and post-training support help you target weak domains before you resit.

    Course Content

What topics does the training cover?

The training covers all seven agile domains: Agile Principles and Mindset, Value-Driven Delivery, Stakeholder Engagement, Team Performance, Adaptive Planning, Problem Detection and Resolution, and Continuous Improvement, plus tools such as story points, burndown charts and information radiators.

Do I need prior agile experience to take the course?

To sit the exam you need real agile experience, but you can join the training at any point to build knowledge and earn contact hours. The PMI-ACP itself requires 1,500 hours of agile project experience plus 2,000 hours of general project experience.

Does the training meet the 21 contact hours requirement?

Yes. The programme delivers 24 contact hours of instructor-led agile training, which exceeds and fully satisfies PMI's mandatory 21 contact hours of agile education for PMI-ACP eligibility.

    What learning resources are included?

You receive PMI-aligned courseware, references to the PMI-ACP Examination Content Outline and Handbook, the Agile Practice Guide, practice questions, mock exams, templates and topic-wise quizzes to build exam readiness.

Is the courseware aligned to the current PMI-ACP outline?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to PMI's PMI-ACP Examination Content Outline published in January 2018, which remains the current outline, so you prepare against exactly what the exam evaluates.

    Enrollment

What are the eligibility requirements to earn the PMI-ACP?

You need a secondary degree, 2,000 hours of general project experience within the last five years, 1,500 hours of agile project experience within the last three years, and 21 contact hours of agile training. PMP or PgMP holders already meet the general experience requirement.

How do I enrol in the course?

You can enrol through the Invensis Learning website. Choose your preferred format, complete payment, and you will receive access to schedules, courseware and learning resources. See upcoming batches or talk to a learning advisor to get started.

    What training formats are available?

We offer instructor-led training online (live virtual), classroom training, and customised corporate group training, so you can choose the format that fits your schedule and learning style in Singapore.

    How soon can I start?

New live online and classroom batches run regularly, so you can usually begin within a short time of enrolling. Check upcoming schedules or ask an advisor about the next Singapore cohort.

Can I reschedule my batch and what is the refund policy?

Yes. Flexi options let you reschedule or transfer to another batch, and refunds and cancellations follow our published policy. Contact our support team for the details that apply to your enrolment.
