    The CSM exam is an open-book, online, multiple-choice test taken through the Scrum Alliance member portal after you complete an approved course. It is based on the Scrum Alliance CSM Learning Objectives and the current Scrum Guide.

    How many questions are on the CSM exam and how long is it?

    The CSM exam has 50 multiple-choice questions and a time limit of 60 minutes. It is taken online without a proctor after you complete the course.

    What is the passing score for the CSM exam?

    You need 74% to pass, which means answering at least 37 of the 50 questions correctly.

    How many attempts do I get for the CSM exam?

    Candidates typically have three attempts to pass within 90 days of completing the course. If you do not pass first time, you can retake the exam within that window, and our training prepares you to pass on your first attempt.

    Do I need to attend a course to sit the CSM exam?

    Yes. Attendance at an approved CSM course delivered by a Certified Scrum Trainer is mandatory. The exam cannot be accessed without completing the course, which unlocks it for 90 days.

    Which Scrum Guide edition is the CSM based on?

    The CSM is aligned to the current Scrum Guide, the November 2020 edition, and the Scrum Alliance CSM Learning Objectives. The 2020 edition introduced the Product Goal and framed the Sprint Goal and Definition of Done as commitments.

    How long is the CSM training?

    Invensis Learning delivers the CSM as a 16-hour instructor-led programme, available as two full days or four half-days, which meets the Scrum Alliance minimum contact-hour requirement.

    You receive Scrum Alliance aligned courseware, industry case studies illustrating facilitation and impediment removal, practice questions and guidance for the CSM online exam.
