What is the PfMP certification and who is it for?

PfMP (Portfolio Management Professional) is PMI's most senior portfolio management credential, for professionals who manage portfolios of projects and programmes aligned to organisational strategy. It suits portfolio managers, PMO heads, directors of delivery and senior practitioners with substantial portfolio experience.

Is the PfMP recognised in Serbia and internationally?

Yes. PfMP is a globally recognised PMI credential valued by employers across Serbia and worldwide, including ICT delivery centres, banks, telecoms and consulting firms that run large project portfolios. PMI credentials are referenced by senior employers across more than 200 countries.

Do I need PMP or PgMP before taking PfMP?

No. Neither PMP nor PgMP is a formal prerequisite for the PfMP. Eligibility is based on your professional business experience and portfolio management experience, not on prior PMI certifications, although many senior portfolio managers hold one or both.

How long is the PfMP certification valid?

PfMP is valid for three years. To maintain it, you earn 60 PDUs across the PMI Talent Triangle within each three-year continuing certification requirements (CCR) cycle.

Is the PMI exam fee included in the training price?

No. PMI bills the PfMP exam fee separately in USD under regional pricing. PMI members pay a lower exam fee than non-members, and annual PMI membership also lowers renewal costs. Confirm current fees on the PMI store before applying.

What if I do not pass the PfMP exam the first time?

PMI allows up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period, and our training includes mock exams and revision support to build readiness. Reexamination fees apply to the second and third attempts; confirm the current amounts on the PMI store.

What is the format of the PfMP exam?

The PfMP exam is a closed-book, multiple-choice examination based on the PfMP Examination Content Outline and the Standard for Portfolio Management, Fourth Edition. It uses scenario and situational questions across five performance domains.

How many questions are on the PfMP exam and how long is it?

The exam has 170 questions and an allotted time of four hours (240 minutes). It is delivered via Pearson VUE, either at a test centre or through OnVUE online proctoring.

What is the passing score for the PfMP exam?

PMI does not publish a fixed percentage pass mark. The result is determined through psychometric analysis and reported as Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement per domain, so focus on broad mastery across all five domains.

What is the PfMP panel review?

The panel review is a multi-rater assessment unique to the PfMP. A panel of portfolio management practitioners evaluates your documented portfolio experience and competency. It must be passed in addition to the written exam to earn the credential.

Course Content

Can I take this course if I am new to portfolio management?

You can enrol in the training to build portfolio knowledge, but the PfMP exam itself requires substantial experience. The programme is designed for senior practitioners and includes practical guidance to help you meet PMI's eligibility and application requirements.

What topics are covered in the PfMP training?

The training covers the five PfMP performance domains: Strategic Alignment (25%), Governance (20%), Portfolio Performance (25%), Portfolio Risk Management (14%) and Communications Management (16%), plus application, panel-review and exam strategy.

Is the courseware aligned with the latest PfMP syllabus?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to PMI's Standard for Portfolio Management, Fourth Edition, and the current PfMP Examination Content Outline, so you prepare against the 4th edition standard the exam is built on.

Are practice tests and mock exams included?

Yes. The programme includes practice questions, full-length mock exams, an exam simulator and topic-wise quizzes to help you identify weak areas and build exam readiness across all five domains.

Will I receive a certificate after the training?

Yes. After meeting the course requirements you receive a course completion certificate along with the contact hours earned through the programme, which support your PMI application.

PMI requires a secondary or bachelor's degree, 10 years (120 months) of professional business experience within the past 15 years, and portfolio management experience (84, 48 or 36 months depending on your degree path), plus a panel review.
