Construction skills hard to evidence when you change contractor or sector

    Now you have

A globally portable credential that travels across sectors and borders

Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

The PMI Construction Professional (PMI-CP) is PMI's specialist credential for professionals who deliver construction projects. It validates your ability to manage complex builds across contracts, stakeholders, scope and governance, and suits construction project managers, engineers, owner's representatives and PMP holders in construction.

    General

What is the PMI-CP certification and who is it for?

The PMI Construction Professional (PMI-CP) is PMI's specialist credential for professionals who deliver construction projects. It validates your ability to manage complex builds across contracts, stakeholders, scope and governance, and suits construction project managers, engineers, owner's representatives and PMP holders in construction.

Is the PMI-CP recognised in Portugal?

Yes. As a PMI credential, the PMI-CP carries global recognition through PMI's network in over 200 countries and is valued by Portuguese contractors, developers, energy firms and consultancies delivering large, complex projects.

How does the PMI-CP differ from the PMP?

The PMP is a broad project management credential across all industries. The PMI-CP is a construction specialist credential whose largest domain is Contracts Management at 50 per cent. The two are complementary, and many construction PMP holders go on to add the PMI-CP.

Is the PMI-CP worth it for my construction career?

For experienced construction professionals it is a strong investment. It proves construction-specific delivery skill that employers value, and in Portugal roles run from construction project manager, averaging around EUR 53,000, up to director bands near EUR 90,000. Talk to a learning advisor to plan your path.

How long is the PMI-CP valid and how do I renew it?

The PMI-CP is valid for three years. You renew it by earning 60 PDUs across the PMI Talent Triangle, with at least 8 PDUs in each area, within the three-year cycle. The 56 PDUs from the four prerequisite modules can count toward renewal.

    Pricing

What is included in the PMI-CP training fee?

The training fee typically includes PMI-aligned courseware, practice questions, mock exams, templates, guidance on the four prerequisite modules and application support, plus learner support and a completion certificate. Request a quote for current pricing in Portugal.

How much does the PMI-CP exam cost?

PMI bills the exam separately in USD under regional pricing, and members pay less than non-members. Fees change periodically, so confirm the current PMI-CP exam and re-examination fees on pmi.org before you apply.

Is the exam fee included in the course price?

No. The PMI exam fee is paid to PMI directly and is not part of the training fee. PMI membership can reduce the exam cost and gives access to PMI resources.

Do you offer corporate or group discounts?

Yes. We offer corporate training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for construction teams and PMOs. Contact us for a tailored group quote.

    What payment options are available?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, and offer instalment options on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you.

    Exam

What is the format of the PMI-CP exam?

The exam has 120 questions and you have 230 minutes, which is 3 hours 50 minutes, to complete it.

What are the PMI-CP exam domains and their weights?

There are four domains: Contracts Management (50 per cent), Stakeholder Engagement (30 per cent), Strategy and Scope Management (15 per cent) and Project Governance (5 per cent).

What are the eligibility requirements for the PMI-CP?

You complete all four mandatory self-paced modules plus one experience set: a secondary diploma with 60 months of construction PM experience, a bachelor's degree with 36 months, or a GAC-accredited degree with 24 months, each within the past 10 years, plus 35 contact hours of PM education.

What is the passing score and how many attempts do I get?

PMI uses a psychometrically determined passing score rather than a fixed number, with results reported by domain. You get up to three attempts within a one-year eligibility window from application approval.

Where can I take the PMI-CP exam?

You can sit it online through Pearson VUE OnVUE proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre, scheduled via PMI or Pearson VUE within your eligibility period.
