    Is the PgMP worth it for programme leaders in Portugal?

    Yes. PgMP is a globally exclusive PMI credential held by fewer than 3,000 people worldwide, and it maps to senior roles such as Programme Director and Head of PMO that command strong salary bands in Portugal's tech, banking and consulting sectors.

    Is PMP required before PgMP?

    No. PMP is not a mandatory prerequisite, but an active PMP satisfies the project management experience requirement across all three eligibility sets, so PMP holders only need to document their programme management experience.

    What are the PgMP eligibility requirements?

    PgMP has three sets. With a secondary diploma: 48 months of project management experience (or PMP) plus 84 months of programme experience. With a four-year degree: 48 months plus 48 months. All experience must fall within the last 15 years and is confirmed by a panel review.

    How long is the PgMP certification valid?

    PgMP is valid for three years. To maintain it, you earn 60 PDUs across the PMI Talent Triangle within each three-year continuing certification requirements cycle, with at least 8 PDUs in each of the three areas.

    The exam has 170 questions and a four-hour allotted time. It is delivered online via Pearson VUE OnVUE proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre.

    What is the PgMP panel review?

    The panel review is a multi-rater assessment unique to PgMP. A panel of programme management practitioners evaluates your documented experience. You must pass both the panel review and the written exam to earn the credential.

    What is the passing score and how many attempts do I get?

    PMI uses a psychometrically determined passing score that is not published as a fixed number; results are reported by domain. You get up to three attempts within a one-year eligibility period.
