    Is there an exam to become a Certified Scrum Product Owner?

    No. CSPO has no examination. The credential is awarded by Scrum Alliance once you successfully complete an approved CSPO course delivered by a Certified Scrum Trainer, either live virtual or in a classroom.

    How do I get CSPO certified?

    Attend a complete Scrum Alliance approved CSPO course led by a Certified Scrum Trainer. On completion you accept the Scrum Alliance licence agreement through your member account, and the CSPO credential is activated. Self-study alone does not qualify.

    Who awards the CSPO credential?

    Scrum Alliance awards the CSPO credential. The course must be delivered by a Scrum Alliance Certified Scrum Trainer (CST), which ensures the content aligns with the official CSPO learning objectives and the current Scrum Guide.

    Do I need prior certification or experience for CSPO?

    No. There is no formal education or work experience requirement. CSPO is the entry level of the Scrum Alliance product owner track, so it suits both newcomers to the role and those formalising existing product experience.

    How do I renew or progress after CSPO?

    Renew CSPO every two years by earning 16 SEUs and paying the membership renewal fee. To progress, advance to Advanced CSPO (A-CSPO) and then Certified Scrum Professional - Product Owner (CSP-PO) on the Scrum Alliance product owner track.

    Are there practical exercises in the course?

    Yes. The course is interactive and scenario based, with exercises on writing user stories, ordering the backlog, defining a Product Goal and engaging stakeholders, so you can apply the techniques to real product work straight away.

    Is the courseware aligned with the latest Scrum Guide?

    Yes. The courseware follows the current Scrum Alliance CSPO learning objectives and the latest Scrum Guide, including the Product Goal as the Product Backlog commitment and the product owner's accountability for value.

    You receive Scrum Alliance aligned courseware, reference materials and practical templates. Training is delivered in English by experienced trainers, in live virtual or classroom formats to suit your schedule.

    What are the requirements to enrol in CSPO training?

    Anyone can enrol; there is no formal education or experience prerequisite. Completing the full Certified Scrum Trainer led course is the only requirement to receive the CSPO credential from Scrum Alliance.
