    What is the format of the CSM exam?

    The CSM exam is an open-book, multiple-choice test taken online through the Scrum Alliance member portal after you complete an approved course. It is based on the Scrum Alliance CSM Learning Objectives and the current Scrum Guide.

    How many questions are on the CSM exam and how long is it?

    The CSM exam has 50 multiple-choice questions and a time limit of 60 minutes (1 hour). It is taken online without a proctor via the Scrum Alliance portal.

    What is the passing score for the CSM exam?

    You need 74% to pass, which is at least 37 correct answers out of 50. The exam is open book, so you can refer to your materials while you answer.

    What if I do not pass the CSM exam the first time?

    You typically have up to three attempts to pass within 90 days of completing the course. The course preparation and practice questions are designed to help you pass on your first attempt.

    Do I need to attend a course before the CSM exam?

    Yes. Attendance at an approved CSM course delivered by a Certified Scrum Trainer (CST) is mandatory. The exam cannot be accessed until you complete the course, and you then have 90 days to sit it.
