The PMI Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP) is PMI's specialist credential in project risk management. What is the PMI-RMP certification and who is it for?

Is the RMP worth it for professionals in Guadalajara?

Yes. Guadalajara's semiconductor, software, automotive and financial services employers run large, high-stakes projects fuelled by nearshoring, and certified risk professionals are scarce. Risk roles here range from around MX$400,000 to well over MX$1,400,000 a year, and certification is reported to add up to a 20% pay premium.

Is PMP required before taking the RMP?

No. PMP is not a prerequisite for the RMP. You can apply directly based on your project risk management experience and education. Many RMP holders also hold the PMP, as the two credentials are complementary, but only the RMP focuses entirely on risk.

How long is the RMP certification valid?

The RMP is valid for three years from the date of certification. To maintain it, you earn 30 PDUs in risk management topics within each three-year continuing certification requirements (CCR) cycle.

Is the RMP recognised internationally?

Yes. As a PMI credential, the RMP is recognised by employers worldwide. It is especially valued in high-risk industries such as construction, defence, energy and financial services, where formal project risk management is contractually or regulatorily required.

Pricing

How much does RMP training cost in Guadalajara?

Training fees vary by format, such as live online, classroom or corporate group, and are quoted in Mexican pesos on request. The PMI exam fee is billed separately in USD and is not part of the training fee. Request a quote for current pricing and available batches.

What is included in the RMP course fee?

The training fee typically includes PMI-aligned courseware covering the five ECO domains, 32 contact hours of instruction, practice questions, mock exams, downloadable templates, application guidance and learner support with a course completion certificate. Is the PMI exam fee included in the training price?

No. PMI bills the RMP exam fee separately in USD. For reference, it is around USD 520 for PMI members and USD 670 for non-members, and annual PMI membership of about USD 139 can reduce the exam cost. Verify current fees on pmi.org before applying.

What is the format of the RMP exam?

The RMP exam is a closed-book, computer-based exam with multiple-choice questions in single-answer and multiple-answer formats. It is delivered via Pearson VUE, either through OnVUE online proctoring or at a test centre, and is based on the PMI-RMP ECO effective January 2022.

How many questions are on the RMP exam and how long is it?

The RMP exam has 115 questions and a time limit of 2.5 hours (150 minutes). You get up to three attempts within a one-year eligibility period from application approval.

What are the RMP exam domains and their weights?

The January 2022 ECO defines five domains: Risk Strategy and Planning (20%), Risk Identification (20%), Risk Analysis (23%), Risk Response (22%) and Monitor and Close Risks (15%). The training covers all five in depth.

What is the passing score for the RMP exam?

PMI uses a psychometrically determined passing score that is not published as a fixed number. Results are reported as pass or fail, with domain-level feedback (Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement), so aim for broad mastery across all five domains.

What happens if I do not pass the first time?

You may take up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period. Re-examination fees apply to the second and third attempts. Our mock exams, domain-focused practice and trainer support are designed to help you prepare for a first-time pass.

Course Content

What topics are covered in the RMP training?

The training covers the five ECO domains: Risk Strategy and Planning, Risk Identification, Risk Analysis, Risk Response, and Monitor and Close Risks. It includes qualitative and quantitative tools, response strategies, and risk practice across predictive, agile and hybrid delivery.

Does the training satisfy the RMP education prerequisite?

The programme provides 32 contact hours of risk management education, which fully satisfies the 30-hour requirement for Set B (bachelor's degree) and Set C (GAC-accredited degree) candidates. Set A candidates (secondary diploma) need 40 hours and should add at least 8 more hours.

What risk tools will I learn to use?

You will practise risk identification tools such as SWOT, the Delphi technique and prompt lists, qualitative tools like the probability/impact matrix, and quantitative techniques including Monte Carlo simulation, decision tree analysis, sensitivity analysis and expected monetary value.

Is the courseware aligned to the latest ECO?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the current PMI-RMP Examination Content Outline effective January 2022, which incorporates both predictive and agile or hybrid risk approaches, and to the PMI Practice Standard for Project Risk Management.

Will I receive a certificate of completion?

Yes. After meeting the course requirements you receive a course completion certificate along with the 32 contact hours earned through the programme, which count toward your PMI application education requirement.

What are the eligibility requirements for the RMP?

PMI offers three sets. Set A: a secondary diploma plus 36 months of risk experience and 40 hours of education. Set B: a bachelor's degree plus 24 months and 30 hours. Set C: a GAC-accredited degree plus 12 months and 30 hours. Experience must be in project risk within the last five years.

How do I enrol in the RMP course?

What training formats are available?
