What is the format of the PMI-CP exam?

The PMI-CP exam is closed book with multiple-choice questions, in single-answer and multiple-answer formats. It is based on the PMI-CP Examination Content Outline and construction project management principles, delivered online proctored or at a Pearson VUE test centre.

How many questions are on the PMI-CP exam and how long is it?

The PMI-CP exam has 120 questions and an allotted time of 230 minutes, which is 3 hours and 50 minutes. The questions are distributed across the four domains in the PMI-CP Examination Content Outline.

What are the PMI-CP exam domains and their weights?

The exam covers four domains: Contracts Management (50%), Stakeholder Engagement (30%), Strategy and Scope Management (15%) and Project Governance (5%), as set out in the current PMI-CP Examination Content Outline.

What is the passing score for the PMI-CP exam?

PMI uses a psychometrically determined passing score rather than a fixed percentage. Results are reported as pass or fail, with domain-level feedback of Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement, so aim for broad mastery across all four domains.

What happens if I do not pass the PMI-CP exam first time?

What are the four prerequisite modules for PMI-CP?

Before applying, all candidates complete four self-paced modules in any order: Project Communications, Interface Management, Scope and Change Order Management, and Contract and Risk Management. Each awards 14 PDUs, for 56 PDUs in total, which can also count toward renewal.

Do I need prior experience to take this training?

You can join the training at any stage of your construction career. To sit the PMI-CP exam, PMI requires construction project management experience plus 35 contact hours of project management education, alongside the four prerequisite modules. We guide you through the requirements.

Are practice tests and mock exams included?

Yes. The programme includes practice questions aligned to the 120-question, closed-book format, plus full-length mock exams and quizzes to help you identify weak areas and build exam readiness.

Is the courseware aligned with the current PMI-CP outline?
