What You Gain from This ProgrammePractical Value from Day One

    For Individuals

    For Individuals

Value Stream Mapping training helps operations and improvement professionals see waste that is invisible in day-to-day work and act on it. The programme suits managers, engineers and coordinators who want a hands-on Lean skill. Whether you work in a resort, a seafood processing plant or a logistics operation, you learn to map how value really flows and where it stalls.

If you want a practical, immediately usable improvement technique, Value Stream Mapping is a clear next step. You leave able to map, analyse and improve a real value stream from your own workplace.

    • Learn to map current-state and future-state value streams with confidence
    • Spot the eight wastes and the bottleneck that limits your flow
    • Cut lead time and work-in-progress across your operations
    • Turn a value stream map into a practical improvement plan

    • Build a skill valued across tourism, manufacturing and logistics
    • Facilitate VSM workshops for your own team
    • Gain a foundation for further Lean and Six Sigma learning
    For Organizations

    For Organizations

Value Stream Mapping group training equips operations, quality and supply chain teams to visualise and improve their own processes. Sessions can be delivered on-site for a resort operations team, a processing facility or a logistics unit. Bringing a cross-functional group together means the map reflects the whole flow, not one department's view.

For Maldivian organisations under pressure to control cost and improve service, a shared value stream mapping capability turns improvement from a one-off event into a repeatable discipline your teams own.

    • Scales across departments and island locations

Where Value Stream Skills Lead in the MaldivesCareer Demand and Growth

Value Stream Mapping is a practical skill in growing demand across the Maldives, where tourism, seafood processing and logistics all run on tight, cost-sensitive operations. As resorts scale, tuna processors move up the value chain and infrastructure projects expand, employers increasingly want people who can find waste and improve flow. Lean and continuous improvement talent is still scarce locally, so professionals who complete Value Stream Mapping training and can map and optimise a value stream stand out for operations and improvement roles across the islands.

Operational Pressures Fuelling Demand for Lean Skills in the Maldives

    Thin Margins in Tourism Operations

Resorts run complex, service-heavy operations where every delay adds cost. Mapping the value stream exposes the waiting, rework and handoffs that erode margin and guest experience.

VSM exposes waiting and rework in service flows

Moving up the Seafood Value Chain

As Maldivian tuna processors add value-added export lines, they need leaner, more reliable flow. VSM reveals the bottlenecks and inventory that slow throughput on the processing floor.

VSM reveals bottlenecks on the processing floor

    Infrastructure and Construction Throughput

Government and tourism-led construction is expanding, but materials, logistics and island transport create long lead times. Value stream mapping helps teams see and shorten them.

VSM helps teams shorten long lead times

    Island Supply Chain Complexity

Moving goods across dispersed islands makes inventory and transport waste hard to control. Mapping material and information flow highlights where stock and delays pile up.

VSM highlights inventory and transport waste

    Scarce Continuous Improvement Talent

The Maldives has few professionals trained in Lean methods, so employers value staff who can facilitate mapping workshops and lead structured, waste-focused improvement.

VSM makes trained improvement leads stand out

Pressure to Do More with Less

Cost and capacity constraints push organisations to improve without heavy investment. VSM delivers exactly that: a low-cost, high-impact way to redesign how work flows.

Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

Value Stream Mapping training is a practical, one-day Lean course that teaches you to visualise the end-to-end flow of materials and information in your operation. Rooted in the Toyota Production System and the classic guide 'Learning to See' by Rother and Shook, it shows you how to map, analyse and improve a value stream.

Rooted in the Toyota Production System and the classic guide 'Learning to See' by Rother and Shook, it shows you how to map, analyse and improve a value stream.

Yes. VSM is one of the most practical Lean skills you can gain, giving you a low-cost, high-impact way to expose waste and improve flow. In the Maldives, where tourism, seafood processing and logistics run on tight operations, professionals who can map and optimise a value stream are valued for improvement roles.

The course suits operations and manufacturing managers, process improvement professionals, industrial and process engineers, supply chain and logistics staff, and anyone responsible for reducing waste in end-to-end process flows. It works well for both individuals and cross-functional teams.

No. There are no formal prerequisites. Some familiarity with Lean ideas such as waste and flow is helpful, but the course introduces all the concepts you need, including the five Lean principles and the eight wastes, in the context of value stream mapping.

VSM is applied across the Maldives in resort and hospitality operations, tuna and seafood processing, construction, and island logistics. Teams use it to map guest-service flows, processing lines and supply chains, then cut waiting, inventory and lead time to improve service and control cost.

Do I need Lean experience before taking this training?

No. There are no formal prerequisites. Some familiarity with Lean ideas such as waste and flow is helpful, but the course introduces all the concepts you need, including the five Lean principles and the eight wastes, in the context of value stream mapping.

How is Value Stream Mapping used in Maldivian industries?

VSM is applied across the Maldives in resort and hospitality operations, tuna and seafood processing, construction, and island logistics. Teams use it to map guest-service flows, processing lines and supply chains, then cut waiting, inventory and lead time to improve service and control cost.

    Pricing

How much does Value Stream Mapping training cost in the Maldives?

Fees vary by delivery mode, group size and schedule, so pricing is available on request. Live online, classroom and on-site corporate options are each priced differently. Talk to a learning advisor for a quote that fits your needs.

What is included in the course fee?

The fee typically covers instructor-led training across all six VSM modules, hands-on current-state and future-state mapping exercises, courseware and reference materials, learner support, and a course completion certificate from Invensis Learning.

Do you offer corporate or group pricing?

Yes. We offer customised corporate and group training with schedules and content built around your team, and volume-based pricing for larger groups. It is ideal for mapping a real value stream from your own operation. Ask about corporate pricing for your team.

    What payment options are available?

We accept major cards and bank transfers, with instalment options on selected plans. A learning advisor can walk you through the options that apply to individual or corporate bookings.

Do I get anything to show for the fee I pay?

Yes. On completing the one-day programme you receive a course completion certificate from Invensis Learning, along with the practical VSM skills and templates you can apply at work immediately.

    Assessment

Is there an exam for Value Stream Mapping training?

No. This is a practical skills course with no examination. Learning is reinforced through hands-on mapping exercises and group discussion during the one-day programme, so you practise the technique as you learn it.

Do I receive a certification after the course?

No external credential is awarded, because value stream mapping is a Lean technique with no governing body. You receive a course completion certificate from Invensis Learning that recognises your attendance and the practical skills you have built.

How is learning assessed during the training?

There is no formal assessment. Instead, you apply the technique directly, building current-state and future-state maps for realistic operational scenarios and discussing them with the trainer and your peers throughout the day.

Is there a governing body for Value Stream Mapping?

No. VSM is an established Lean technique rooted in the Toyota Production System and popularised by Rother and Shook in 'Learning to See'. There is no awarding body or standard exam; the value is in mastering and applying the method.

Will I be able to apply VSM immediately after the course?

Yes. The training is designed for immediate use. On completing it you can select a product or service family, run a Gemba walk, draw current and future-state maps, and build an improvement plan for your own operation.

    Course Content

What topics does the Value Stream Mapping training cover?

The course spans six modules: Lean foundations and VSM, the standard VSM symbols, creating the current-state map, analysing it for waste, designing the future-state map, and implementation planning. Hands-on mapping exercises run throughout the day.

Will I learn the standard VSM symbols?

Yes. You learn the full standard VSM symbol set, including process boxes, material and information flow arrows, inventory triangles, kanban symbols, data boxes and the Kaizen burst, so your maps are clear and consistent for any team.

    Are there hands-on mapping exercises?

Yes. You practise throughout the day, creating both a current-state and a future-state map for a realistic operational scenario. This hands-on approach means you leave able to facilitate a mapping session in your own workplace.

What is the difference between a current-state and future-state map?

A current-state map shows how the value stream actually works today, exposing waste and bottlenecks. A future-state map is the leaner target you design toward, using continuous flow and pull. The course teaches you to build both and quantify the improvement.

Is the course suitable for service and non-manufacturing operations?

Yes. While VSM began in manufacturing, it applies equally to hospitality, healthcare, logistics, financial services and IT. The technique works anywhere you need to visualise and improve the flow of work, which is why it fits Maldivian resorts and service operations.
