What Is Kanban and Why It Matters for Maldivian TeamsUntitledA Practical Guide to Visual, Pull-Based Flow

Kanban Training in Maldives is a practical, one-day skills programme that teaches you to run a visual, pull-based workflow system across manufacturing and knowledge-work settings. Kanban began in the Toyota Production System, where Taiichi Ohno used simple signal cards to trigger production only when real demand pulled it, and was later adapted for software, IT and service teams by David J. Anderson. You will learn to make work visible on a Kanban board, limit work in progress so teams stop overloading themselves, and use flow metrics like lead time, cycle time and throughput to deliver faster and more predictably. The course covers both manufacturing Kanban, with production and withdrawal cards, supermarkets and sizing, and Agile Kanban, with boards, WIP limits, the cumulative flow diagram and Scrumban. This is a non-certification course with no exam; you receive a course completion record from Invensis Learning. For operations, supply chain, IT and delivery teams in the Maldives, it is a direct route to less waste and smoother flow.

What Is Fuelling Demand for Kanban Skills in the Maldives

    High Inter-Island Logistics Costs

Heavy reliance on inter-island transport pushes up operating costs for tourism, fisheries and retail. Pull-based replenishment and visual signals help teams hold less stock and move only what demand pulls.

Kanban builds pull and replenishment skills

    Complex Resort Service Operations

Luxury resorts run hundreds of overlapping guest-service tasks daily. Kanban boards and work-in-progress limits make that workload visible, expose bottlenecks and keep service delivery flowing.

Kanban builds workflow and WIP-limit skills

    Rising Digital and IT Delivery

The Digital Maldives agenda is expanding fintech, e-government and software teams. These teams need flow metrics and WIP limits to ship faster and predict delivery without adding headcount.

Kanban builds flow-metric and delivery skills

    Fisheries and Manufacturing Waste

Fisheries processing and light manufacturing value chains lose margin to overproduction and excess inventory. Manufacturing Kanban and just-in-time pull cut that waste at source.

    Kanban builds just-in-time pull skills

    Seasonal Swings in Demand

Tourist arrivals rise and fall sharply through the year, with early-2026 months down more than 20 per cent. Kanban helps operations match capacity to real demand instead of forecasts.

    Kanban builds capacity-management skills

SME Growth and Tight Cash Flow

As SME financing expands, small firms must do more without tying up cash. Limiting work in progress and overproduction protects cash flow while keeping delivery predictable.

    Your Maldives Workflow Transformation

From Overloaded Queues to Visible, Flowing Work

    The Shift Kanban Skills Deliver

Across Maldivian workplaces, the difference between teams that struggle and teams that deliver is often how well they see and control their work. Here is what changes once you can design and run a Kanban system.

    Today

Bottlenecks are noticed only after they cause delays

    After Kanban

You spot and clear bottlenecks early using the board and cumulative flow diagram

    Today

Improvement is driven by opinion and pressure

    After Kanban

You improve from evidence: lead time, cycle time and throughput data

    Today

Manufacturing and service teams each work in their own silo

    After Kanban

You apply one set of Kanban principles across production, IT and service work

    You master Kanban

    Before

Work piles up in invisible queues and priorities keep shifting

    Now you have

A clear Kanban board where every task and its status is visible to the whole team

    Before

Teams start many things at once and finish very few

    Now you have

WIP limits that push the team to stop starting and start finishing

    Before

Delivery dates are guesses based on gut feel

    Now you have

Flow metrics that let you forecast delivery from real lead time and throughput

    Before

Overproduction and excess stock quietly drain margin

    Now you have

Pull-based replenishment that produces only what downstream demand signals

"The teams that win are not the ones that work hardest, but the ones that make their work visible and let it flow."

Skills You Will Build in This Kanban CourseApplied to Real Production and Service Work

This training turns Kanban theory into working capability. By the end of the programme you can design a pull system, build a board, set WIP limits, size a kanban loop and measure flow across manufacturing and service settings.

    Design Pull-Based Production Systems

You will learn to design a visual, pull-based Kanban system for manufacturing, using production and withdrawal cards, supermarkets and two-bin systems so upstream work is triggered only by real downstream demand.

    Build and Run Kanban Boards

Set up Kanban boards with clear workflow columns, swimlanes, classes of service and a definition of done, so a whole team can see its work and pull it through smoothly.

    Set and Manage WIP Limits

Apply work-in-progress limits to stop overloading, expose bottlenecks and shift the team from starting everything to finishing what matters most.

Measure Flow with Metrics and the CFD

Measure lead time, cycle time and throughput, apply Little's Law, and read a cumulative flow diagram to see where work accumulates and where flow breaks down.

    Calculate Kanban Quantities and Cards

Use takt time and the kanban sizing formula to calculate container quantities and the number of cards, so a pull loop holds just enough inventory and no more.

    Implement and Sustain Kanban

Plan a Kanban rollout in production or knowledge work, combine Kanban with Scrum as Scrumban, and sustain the system so it keeps driving continuous improvement.

Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

Kanban is a visual, pull-based system for managing the flow of work, used both in Lean manufacturing and in Agile knowledge work. This training suits operations, supply chain, IT, software and service professionals in the Maldives who want to make work visible, limit overload and improve flow.

    General

What is Kanban and who is this training for?

Kanban is a visual, pull-based system for managing the flow of work, used both in Lean manufacturing and in Agile knowledge work. This training suits operations, supply chain, IT, software and service professionals in the Maldives who want to make work visible, limit overload and improve flow.

Is learning Kanban worth it in the Maldives?

Yes. Tourism, fisheries, logistics and a growing digital sector all depend on delivering work smoothly at a sensible cost. Kanban is a practical skill that cuts waste and improves predictability, and it applies directly across resorts, banks, IT teams and supply operations.

Does the course cover both manufacturing and Agile Kanban?

Yes. The training covers manufacturing Kanban, including production and withdrawal cards, supermarkets, sizing and just-in-time pull, as well as Agile Kanban, including boards, WIP limits, flow metrics, the cumulative flow diagram and Scrumban.

Do I need prior Lean or Agile experience to attend?

No. There are no formal prerequisites. Some familiarity with Lean or operations is helpful for the manufacturing modules, but the course introduces every Kanban concept from first principles, so beginners and experienced practitioners both benefit.

How long is the Kanban training?

The programme runs for one day (eight hours) and covers all core Kanban topics, from pull production and manufacturing Kanban to boards, WIP limits, flow metrics and implementation, with hands-on design exercises throughout.

    Pricing

How much does Kanban training in the Maldives cost?

Pricing depends on the delivery format and whether you enrol as an individual or a team, so the current fee is available on request. Speak with a learning advisor for a quote that fits your needs.

What is included in the course fee?

The fee typically includes instructor-led training across all Kanban modules, hands-on design exercises, course materials and templates, and a course completion record from Invensis Learning. Ask us for the full inclusions for your chosen format.

Do you offer group or corporate pricing?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with schedules and pricing tailored to your team size and workflows, delivered onsite or live online. Contact us for a group quote.

Are payment or instalment options available?

Yes. We accept major cards and bank transfers, and instalment options are available on selected plans. Talk to a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you.

Is Kanban training better value as team training?

Often, yes. Training a whole team together builds a shared way of working and lets everyone practise on your own real workflows, which usually delivers faster improvement per person. Ask about group pricing for your team.

    Assessment

Is there an exam for the Kanban training?

No. This is a non-certification skills course with no exam. Learning is reinforced through hands-on Kanban design exercises, case examples and team discussion during the one-day programme.

Will I get a certificate after the course?

You receive a course completion record from Invensis Learning after finishing the programme. This is a record of completion rather than a formal certification, since Kanban training has no external awarding body.

How is my learning checked during the course?

There is no formal assessment. Instead, you apply each concept through practical exercises such as kanban quantity calculation, loop design, board design and WIP-limit setting, so you leave able to use the techniques at work.

Is there a governing body or accreditation for Kanban?

No single governing body owns Kanban. The method has its roots in the Toyota Production System for manufacturing and was later formalised for knowledge work by David J. Anderson. The training grounds you in these recognised foundations.

What will I be able to do after completing the training?

You will be able to design a pull system, build and run a Kanban board, set WIP limits, calculate kanban quantities, measure lead time, cycle time and throughput, read a cumulative flow diagram, and plan a Kanban rollout in production or knowledge work.

    Course Content

What topics does the Kanban course cover?

The course covers Kanban origins and pull production, manufacturing Kanban types and mechanics, kanban sizing and implementation, knowledge-work Kanban boards and WIP limits, flow metrics and the cumulative flow diagram, and implementing and sustaining Kanban.

What is the difference between manufacturing and Agile Kanban?

Manufacturing Kanban uses signal cards, supermarkets and pull loops to trigger production only when demand withdraws stock. Agile Kanban applies the same pull thinking to knowledge work using boards, WIP limits and flow metrics. The course teaches both.

Will I learn to calculate kanban quantities and set WIP limits?

Yes. You practise sizing a manufacturing pull loop using takt time and the kanban quantity formula, and you set and adjust work-in-progress limits for knowledge-work boards, both through hands-on exercises with the trainer.

Are there hands-on exercises and materials?
