What is the format of the PfMP exam?

The PfMP exam is a closed-book, multiple-choice examination based on the current PfMP Examination Content Outline and the Standard for Portfolio Management, Fourth Edition. It uses scenario-based questions across the five performance domains.

How many questions are on the PfMP exam and how long is it?

The PfMP exam has 170 questions and an allotted time of four hours (240 minutes). It is delivered online via Pearson VUE OnVUE proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre.

What is the passing score for the PfMP exam?

PMI does not publish a fixed percentage pass mark. The result is determined through psychometric analysis, with domain-level feedback such as Above Target or Target, so focus on broad mastery across all five domains.

Which standard is the PfMP exam based on?

The exam is based on PMI's Standard for Portfolio Management, 4th Edition, and the current PfMP Examination Content Outline. Our courseware is aligned to this Fourth Edition so you prepare against the syllabus PMI actually tests.

What is the PfMP panel review?

The panel review is a multi-rater assessment unique to PfMP. A panel of portfolio management practitioners evaluates your documented experience and competency. It is a mandatory step alongside the written exam, and both must be passed to earn the credential.

What happens if I do not pass the exam?

PMI allows up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period. Re-examination fees apply to the second and third attempts, and our preparation support and mock exams help you build readiness before you sit again.

What topics are covered in the PfMP training?

The training covers the five PfMP performance domains: Strategic Alignment (25%), Governance (20%), Portfolio Performance (25%), Portfolio Risk Management (14%) and Communications Management (16%), plus application and exam strategy.

What learning resources and materials are provided?

You receive PMI-aligned courseware, references to the PfMP Examination Content Outline and Handbook, a Standard for Portfolio Management overview, templates, flashcards and chapter-wise quizzes to support your revision.

Are there practice tests and mock exams included?

Yes. The programme includes a large bank of practice questions, full-length mock exams, an exam simulator and topic-wise quizzes to help you identify weak areas and build exam readiness.

Is the courseware aligned with the latest PfMP syllabus?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to PMI's Standard for Portfolio Management, Fourth Edition, and the current PfMP Examination Content Outline, so you study against the up-to-date syllabus.

Do I need prior experience to benefit from the training?

The training is built for experienced professionals, since PfMP itself requires substantial business and portfolio management experience. The programme consolidates that experience, fills knowledge gaps, and prepares you for the exam and panel review.

What are the eligibility requirements for the PfMP exam?

PfMP has three paths, all within the past 15 years. With a secondary diploma you need 120 months of business experience and 84 months of portfolio management experience; with a four-year degree, 120 and 48 months; with a GAC-accredited degree, 120 and 36 months. All candidates pass a panel review.

How do I enrol in the PfMP course?
