    What is the format of the PfMP exam?

    The PfMP exam is a closed-book, computer-based, multiple-choice examination based on the PfMP Examination Content Outline and the Standard for Portfolio Management, Fourth Edition. It uses scenario and situational questions across five performance domains.

    How many questions are on the PfMP exam and how long is it?

    The exam has 170 questions and an allotted time of four hours (240 minutes). Results are reported with domain-level feedback rather than a single published pass percentage.

    What are the PfMP exam domains and their weights?

    Five domains: Strategic Alignment (25%), Governance (20%), Portfolio Performance (25%), Portfolio Risk Management (14%) and Communications Management (16%). The training covers all five in line with the current 4th Edition standard.

    What is the passing score for the PfMP exam?

    PMI does not publish a fixed percentage pass mark. The result is determined through psychometric analysis, with domain performance reported as Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement, so focus on broad mastery across all five domains.

    What happens if I do not pass the exam?

    What are the eligibility requirements for the PfMP exam?

    Anyone can enrol in the training. To sit the exam, PMI requires 120 months of business experience within the past 15 years plus portfolio management experience: 84 months with a secondary diploma (Set A), 48 months with a bachelor's degree (Set B), or 36 months with a GAC-accredited degree (Set C), and a panel review.
