    What is the format of the CSM exam?

    The CSM exam is an open-book, online, multiple-choice test taken through the Scrum Alliance member portal after you complete the course. It is based on the Scrum Alliance CSM Learning Objectives and the current Scrum Guide.

    How many questions are on the CSM exam and how long is it?

    The CSM exam has 50 multiple-choice questions with a time limit of 60 minutes. It is taken online through the Scrum Alliance portal.

    What is the passing score for the CSM exam?

    You must answer at least 37 of the 50 questions correctly, a passing score of 74%.

    What happens if I do not pass the first time?

    Candidates typically have three attempts to pass within 90 days of completing the course. If you do not pass at first, our trainers and practice materials help you prepare for the next attempt.

    Do I need to attend a course to sit the CSM exam?

    Yes. Attendance at an approved CSM course delivered by a Certified Scrum Trainer is mandatory. The exam unlocks in your Scrum Alliance portal within 90 days of course completion.

    The course covers six areas: Scrum theory and principles, the five Scrum values, the Scrum Team, the Scrum events, the Scrum artefacts, and the Scrum Master role.

    You receive CSM aligned courseware, case studies in facilitation and coaching, practice questions, and guidance on the online exam and SEU renewal.

    Is the courseware aligned to the latest Scrum Guide?
