Is the DevOps Foundation certification worth it in Kenya?

Yes. As Kenyan banks, fintechs and public services accelerate cloud adoption, employers value professionals who share a common DevOps language. DOFD is globally recognised, opens roles from DevOps Engineer to SRE, and DevOps and cloud skills can add 20 to 50% to base pay locally.

Who offers the DevOps Foundation certification?

The certification is offered by the DevOps Institute (DOI), now part of PeopleCert, a globally recognised body operating in over 100 countries. Invensis Learning is an Authorised Training Provider delivering the accredited course.

Are there any prerequisites for DevOps Foundation?

No. DevOps Foundation has no formal prerequisites and is open to everyone, regardless of education, experience or prior DevOps knowledge. Familiarity with basic IT concepts is helpful but not required.

How long is the DevOps Foundation certification valid?

The certification is valid for three years. You renew it by earning Continuing Education Units (CEUs) through DevOps Institute membership and continuing education activities within each three-year cycle.

What is the next step after DevOps Foundation?

DevOps Foundation is the entry point to the DevOps Institute scheme. After it you can pursue DevOps Leader, SRE Foundation, DevSecOps Foundation and other specialist credentials as your career grows.

What is the format of the DevOps Foundation exam?

The exam is closed book with 40 single-answer multiple-choice questions based on the current DevOps Foundation Body of Knowledge. It is delivered online via PeopleCert OnVUE proctoring or at an authorised test centre.

How many questions are on the exam and how long is it?

There are 40 questions and you have 60 minutes (one hour) to complete them. The exam is closed book with single-answer multiple-choice questions.

What is the passing score for DevOps Foundation?

You need 65% to pass, which means answering at least 26 of the 40 questions correctly.

What topics does the exam cover?

Six topic areas: DevOps Foundations (16%), DevOps Concepts and Practices (18%), Agile, ITSM and Lean IT (14%), the DevOps Continuous Delivery Pipeline (20%), Automation and Tooling (12%), and DevOps Culture and Organisation (20%).

Where can I take the exam and what if I do not pass?

You can sit the exam online via PeopleCert OnVUE or at an authorised test centre. Our training includes mock exams and first-attempt guidance; confirm the current re-sit policy with a learning advisor.

Course Content

Can a beginner take this course?

Yes. DevOps Foundation has no prerequisites and is designed for beginners as well as experienced professionals. The 16-hour programme builds your knowledge from the ground up.

What will I learn in the DevOps Foundation course?

You will learn DevOps history and the Three Ways, the CALMS framework, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, DevSecOps, SRE, DORA metrics, the continuous delivery pipeline, the DevOps toolchain, and DevOps culture and organisation.

How long is the training?

The programme runs for 16 hours, typically delivered over two full days or four half-days, covering all six exam topic areas.

Are practice tests and mock exams included?

Yes. The programme includes practice questions and mock exams aligned to the 40-question format to help you identify weak areas and build exam readiness.

Is the courseware aligned to the current syllabus?

Yes. The accredited courseware is aligned to the current DevOps Foundation Exam Blueprint and Body of Knowledge published by the DevOps Institute.
