What Value Stream Mapping Is and the Waste It Helps You RemoveUntitledA Core Lean Skill for Israeli Operations

Value Stream Mapping Training in Israel is a practical, one-day Lean programme that teaches you to see the full flow of materials and information behind a product or service, then redesign it to remove waste. Value Stream Mapping (VSM) is a Lean management technique, rooted in the Toyota Production System (TPS) and popularised by Mike Rother and John Shook in Learning to See (1998), for visualising, analysing and improving end-to-end flow from concept to customer. For manufacturers, medical-device makers, semiconductor operations and food producers across Israel, VSM is the diagnostic that turns a busy operation into a measured one. You learn to build a current-state map by walking the actual floor, calculate lead time, cycle time and takt, then design a leaner future state and a plan to reach it. This is a hands-on skills course with no examination. You leave able to facilitate a mapping session for your own team and turn it into a prioritised improvement roadmap. What Lean Flow Skills Deliver on the JobFor You and Your Organisation

    For Individuals

    For Individuals

Value Stream Mapping training helps operations professionals move from reacting to problems to designing better flow. The one-day programme suits operations managers, industrial and process engineers, Lean practitioners and supply-chain professionals who want a fast, applicable skill. Whether you work on a production line, a clinical or medical-device process, a packaging operation or a back-office workflow, you gain a technique that reveals waste and points to the highest-impact fixes.

If you want to lead improvement rather than wait for it, VSM is one of the most practical Lean tools you can learn. You gain a repeatable method for diagnosing flow, building agreement across functions, and planning change that sticks.

    • Learn to see an entire value stream in one view and spot waste others miss
    • Draw current-state and future-state maps using the standard VSM symbol set
    • Calculate lead time, cycle time and takt to measure flow, not just describe it
    • Find the bottleneck that truly limits output and target it first
    • Turn a map into a prioritised Kaizen and implementation roadmap
    • Add a practical, in-demand Lean skill valued across Israeli manufacturing
    • Facilitate mapping workshops for your own team with confidence
    • Apply the technique the day you return to work, with no exam to sit
    For Organizations

    For Organizations

Group Value Stream Mapping training equips operations, quality, engineering and logistics teams to diagnose and redesign flow together. Delivered for a plant, a business unit or a mixed improvement team, it turns mapping into a shared organisational skill. For Israeli manufacturers and service operations under cost and lead-time pressure, VSM creates a common, evidence-based way to decide what to improve first.

If your teams are busy but flow is uneven, VSM gives them a structured method to see the whole stream, agree on the waste, and plan a leaner future state. The result is faster, better-targeted improvement across the operation.

    • Give cross-functional teams a shared language for mapping and improving flow
    • Expose bottlenecks, overproduction and excess inventory across operations
    • Link waste reduction to measurable lead-time and throughput gains
    • Build internal capability to run VSM workshops without outside help
    • Standardise how improvement opportunities are found and prioritised
    • Feed a clear pipeline of Kaizen events from real value-stream data
    • Deliver training onsite so teams map a real process during the session
    • Support quality and cost goals in regulated and high-mix environments

Why Lean Flow Skills Are in Demand Across Israeli Industry

    Medical-Device Quality and Flow

Israel's large medical-device sector must cut variability and lead time under strict quality demands. VSM exposes where flow stalls so teams can reduce waste without risking product quality.

VSM builds waste-identification and flow-design skills

    Semiconductor and Deep-Tech Complexity

Chip design, verification and advanced-manufacturing operations juggle long, complex flows. VSM maps where cycle time, inventory and hand-offs slow the delivery of value.

VSM builds cycle-time and hand-off analysis skills

    Food and Beverage Throughput

Large Israeli food and consumer-goods producers run high-volume packaging and supply operations. VSM reveals bottlenecks, excess inventory and overproduction that erode throughput.

VSM builds bottleneck and overproduction analysis

    Defence and Aerospace Lead Time

Defence and aerospace production and MRO operations need shorter, more predictable cycles. VSM aligns cycle time to takt and coordinates flow across complex, high-mix lines.

VSM aligns cycle time to demand across lines

    Supply-Chain Resilience Pressure

Recent disruption has pushed Israeli manufacturers to shorten and de-risk their supply chains. VSM visualises material and information flow end to end so weak points are easy to see.

VSM makes material and information flow visible

    Margin and Capital Discipline

Cost pressure across manufacturing forces teams to remove non-value work rather than add resource. VSM ranks improvement opportunities so effort goes where it returns the most.

    VSM prioritises the highest-impact improvements

The Practical Skills You Build in One DayFrom Mapping to a Working Improvement Plan

Skills covered in Value Stream Mapping training run from Lean foundations and symbols through current-state mapping, analysis, future-state design and implementation planning. By the end you can map, analyse and redesign a real value stream and plan the improvement.

    Read the Whole Value Stream

Learn to see an operation as an end-to-end flow of materials and information, apply the five Lean principles, and spot the eight wastes of Lean (DOWNTIME) that hide inside everyday processes.

    Map with Standard VSM Symbols

Use the standard value stream mapping symbol set, from process boxes and data boxes to push and pull arrows, inventory triangles, kanban and Kaizen bursts, so your maps are clear and consistent across teams.

    Build an Accurate Current-State Map

Select a product family, walk the value stream on a Gemba walk, capture cycle time, changeover, uptime and inventory, and complete the timeline that reveals lead time versus value-added time.

Analyse Flow and Find the Bottleneck

Systematically read the map for waste, calculate takt time, compare push versus pull, and identify the true constraint that limits output so improvement effort targets the highest impact.

    Design a Leaner Future State

Apply the eight future-state design questions to introduce continuous flow, pull systems and supermarkets, level the workload, and quantify the improvement from current to future state.

Turn Maps into an Implementation Plan

Convert the future-state map into a prioritised roadmap of Kaizen events, set baseline metrics, and use standard work to sustain the gains as a continuous improvement discipline.

Applied It on the Line the Same Week

"The hands-on mapping exercises made the difference. Within a week I had walked our packaging line, drawn a current-state map and found two bottlenecks nobody had measured before. It is the most immediately useful training I have taken."

Theory Turned into a Method I Can Run

"As an industrial engineer I knew the theory, but this course taught me to actually run a Gemba walk and build a future-state map that people agreed with. The takt and lead-time calculations finally clicked for me."

    Practical and Easy to Apply

"Clear, practical and well paced for a single day. The trainer used real operational examples, and the symbol training meant our whole team now maps the same way. I came away able to prioritise improvements properly."

    Aligned Our Whole Plant Team

"We ran the onsite session for a mixed operations and quality team in our medical-device plant. Mapping a real process together gave everyone a shared view of the waste, and we left with a concrete Kaizen roadmap."

Real Capability, Not Just a Session

"As an L&D manager I needed training that would produce results, not just attendance. The team came back able to facilitate their own mapping workshops, and we have already seen shorter lead times on two lines."

Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

Value Stream Mapping (VSM) training is a one-day Lean skills programme that teaches you to map, analyse and redesign the end-to-end flow of materials and information behind a product or service. It is for operations and manufacturing managers, industrial and process engineers, Lean practitioners and supply-chain professionals across Israel.

Yes. VSM is one of the most practical Lean tools you can learn, and it pays back on the first project by revealing waste and the true bottleneck. In Israel, where medical-device, semiconductor, food and defence operations compete on lead time and cost, the skill is valued for roles like process improvement engineer and operations manager.

No. There are no formal prerequisites. Some familiarity with Lean ideas such as waste, flow and pull is helpful, but the course introduces every concept it uses, so beginners and experienced practitioners both benefit.

VSM is a Lean management technique rooted in the Toyota Production System (TPS) and formalised for practitioners by Mike Rother and John Shook in Learning to See (1998). There is no separate governing body for the technique; the course teaches the widely used standard method.

The programme runs for one day (8 hours) and covers Lean foundations, VSM symbols, current-state mapping, analysis, future-state design and implementation planning, with hands-on mapping exercises throughout. It is available online (live virtual), in the classroom and as onsite corporate training.

    General

What is Value Stream Mapping training and who is it for?

Value Stream Mapping (VSM) training is a one-day Lean skills programme that teaches you to map, analyse and redesign the end-to-end flow of materials and information behind a product or service. It is for operations and manufacturing managers, industrial and process engineers, Lean practitioners and supply-chain professionals across Israel.

Is Value Stream Mapping training worth it?

Do I need prior Lean experience to attend?

No. There are no formal prerequisites. Some familiarity with Lean ideas such as waste, flow and pull is helpful, but the course introduces every concept it uses, so beginners and experienced practitioners both benefit.

What framework is Value Stream Mapping based on?

VSM is a Lean management technique rooted in the Toyota Production System (TPS) and formalised for practitioners by Mike Rother and John Shook in Learning to See (1998). There is no separate governing body for the technique; the course teaches the widely used standard method.

How long is the training and what format does it use?

The programme runs for one day (8 hours) and covers Lean foundations, VSM symbols, current-state mapping, analysis, future-state design and implementation planning, with hands-on mapping exercises throughout. It is available online (live virtual), in the classroom and as onsite corporate training.

    Pricing

How much does Value Stream Mapping training cost in Israel?

Pricing varies by delivery mode, group size and schedule, so the current fee is available on request. Because there is no exam or certification body, the fee covers the training, courseware and mapping exercises only. Request a quote for individual or group pricing.

What is included in the course fee?

The fee typically includes instructor-led delivery, structured courseware, the full VSM symbol set, hands-on current-state and future-state mapping exercises, and a course completion certificate from Invensis Learning. There is no separate exam fee.

Do you offer group or corporate discounts?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for operations, quality and improvement teams. Onsite delivery lets your team map a real process during the session. Contact us for a tailored group quote.

    What payment options are available?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, with instalment options on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you.

    Assessment

Is there an exam for Value Stream Mapping training?

No. This is a non-certification skills course with no examination. Learning is reinforced through hands-on mapping exercises and group discussion during the one-day programme, so you practise the technique as you learn it.

What do I receive after completing the training?

You receive a course completion certificate from Invensis Learning. No formal credential is awarded by an external body, because VSM is a technique rather than a certified qualification. The value is the practical skill you can apply immediately at work.

How is my learning checked during the course?

Learning is checked through practical activity rather than a test. You build both a current-state and a future-state map for a realistic scenario, work through analysis exercises with the trainer, and discuss your maps with the group.

Will I be able to run a mapping session myself afterwards?

Yes. The course is designed so you can facilitate a VSM workshop for your own team, walk a value stream, capture the data, draw the maps and turn them into a prioritised improvement plan without outside help.

Does the completion certificate expire or need renewal?

No. The course completion certificate does not expire and needs no renewal, because VSM is a skill rather than a time-limited credential. What you learn stays applicable, and you can refresh a value stream every 6 to 12 months as part of continuous improvement.

    Course Content

What topics does the Value Stream Mapping course cover?

The course covers six areas: Lean foundations and the eight wastes, the standard VSM symbol set, building the current-state map, analysing flow and finding the bottleneck, designing the future state, and implementation planning to sustain improvement.

What will I be able to do after the training?

You will be able to select a product family, run a Gemba walk to collect real data, draw a current-state map with standard symbols, calculate takt and lead time, identify waste, design a future-state map, and build a Kaizen and implementation roadmap.

    Are the mapping exercises hands-on?

Yes. You practise mapping throughout the day, creating both a current-state and a future-state map for a realistic operational scenario. In onsite corporate sessions, teams often map one of their own real processes.

Which industries is the training relevant to?

VSM applies well beyond the shop floor. It is used in manufacturing, medical devices, semiconductors, food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, defence and aerospace, logistics, financial services and IT, wherever teams want to improve process flow.

What VSM symbols and tools will I learn to use?

You learn the full standard VSM symbol set, including process and data boxes, push and pull arrows, inventory triangles, kanban and supermarket symbols, and Kaizen bursts. You also apply takt time, cycle time and lead-time calculations to read the map.
