What Is Design for Six Sigma and How DMADV WorksUntitledA Practical Route to First-Time Quality

Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) is a proactive quality methodology for designing new products, services and processes that meet customer requirements and reach Six Sigma quality levels from the outset, rather than improving them after defects appear. This Design for Six Sigma training in Hungary teaches the widely used DMADV roadmap (Define, Measure, Analyse, Design, Verify) and the core DFSS tools that build quality into a design from the start. Unlike DMAIC, which improves existing processes, DFSS designs quality in before launch. Over a focused one-day (8-hour) programme you learn to capture the voice of the customer, translate needs into measurable CTQs, build a QFD House of Quality, compare concepts with the Pugh matrix, run a Design FMEA, apply robust design, and verify a design before it reaches production. The course suits product and design engineers, R&D professionals, quality engineers and Six Sigma practitioners in Hungary's manufacturing, automotive and electronics sectors. It is a non-certification, skills-focused programme; on completion you receive a course completion record from Invensis Learning and tools you can apply immediately.

Design Quality Gaps Shaping Hungary's Industry

The High Cost of Late Design Fixes

Changes made after launch cost far more than changes made during design. Many teams still fix defects late, the exact problem DFSS is built to prevent through the DMADV roadmap.

    DFSS builds design-first quality skills

    EV and Battery Ramp-Up Pressure

Hungary's battery gigafactories and EV plants must scale new products fast without quality slips. Robust design and design verification skills help teams launch right the first time.

DFSS builds robust design and verification skills

    Automotive Quality Requirements

OEMs expect Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers to run APQP with Design FMEA and design controls. DFSS gives engineers the tools these customer requirements demand.

DFSS builds Design FMEA and QFD skills

    Scarce Design Quality Skills

Hungary's talent pool is strong in CAD and manufacturing but thinner in structured design quality methods. Engineers fluent in DMADV, QFD and Pugh selection are in short supply.

    DFSS makes engineers stand out

    Rising Product Complexity

Electronics-intensive vehicles and connected products push design complexity higher. CTQ flow-down and robust design help engineers keep quality predictable as complexity grows.

DFSS builds CTQ and tolerancing skills

    Voice of the Customer Gaps

Designs that miss real customer needs drive rework and warranty claims. VOC capture and the Kano model help teams design to what customers actually value.

Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) is a proactive quality methodology for designing new products, services and processes that meet customer requirements and reach Six Sigma quality levels from the outset. It most commonly uses the DMADV roadmap (Define, Measure, Analyse, Design, Verify) and tools such as VOC, QFD, Design FMEA and robust design.

    General

What is Design for Six Sigma?

Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) is a proactive quality methodology for designing new products, services and processes that meet customer requirements and reach Six Sigma quality levels from the outset. It most commonly uses the DMADV roadmap (Define, Measure, Analyse, Design, Verify) and tools such as VOC, QFD, Design FMEA and robust design.

Is Design for Six Sigma training worth it?

Yes. DFSS training gives you a structured way to design quality in rather than fix defects later, which is highly valued in Hungary's automotive, electronics and battery sectors. You gain practical tools you can apply to real design projects immediately after the course.

Who should take this DFSS course?

The course suits product and design engineers, R&D professionals, new product development managers, quality engineers, manufacturing engineers involved in new product introduction, and Six Sigma practitioners who want to add the design counterpart of DMAIC to their toolkit.

What is DMADV in Design for Six Sigma?

DMADV stands for Define, Measure, Analyse, Design and Verify. It is the most widely used DFSS roadmap and guides you from defining customer requirements, through translating them into CTQs and selecting a design, to verifying the design meets those requirements before launch.

Do I need prior Six Sigma knowledge to attend?

No. There are no formal prerequisites. Familiarity with basic Six Sigma concepts such as CTQ, DMAIC and variation is helpful, but the course introduces all DFSS-specific tools and the DMADV methodology from first principles.

    Pricing

How much does DFSS training cost in Hungary?

Pricing depends on the delivery mode, group size and whether the training is public or corporate. Fees are available on request. Contact a learning advisor for a quote tailored to individual or team training in Hungary.

What is included in the course fee?

The fee typically includes instructor-led training across all DFSS modules, hands-on tool exercises, course materials and learner support, plus a course completion record from Invensis Learning. Request a quote to confirm what is included in your chosen format.

Do you offer corporate or group pricing?

Yes. We offer corporate and group training with schedules and content tailored to your team, and volume-based pricing. Ask about corporate or group pricing for a quote for your organisation.

    Are flexible payment options available?

Yes. Flexible payment options are available on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that best suits you or your team.

Does the fee differ for virtual and classroom delivery?

Pricing can vary by delivery mode, since virtual, classroom and onsite formats have different costs. Fees are available on request, so contact us for a quote for the format you prefer.

    Assessment

Is there an exam for the DFSS training?

No. This is a non-certification, skills-focused course with no examination. Learning is reinforced through hands-on DFSS tool exercises, case study examples and team discussion during the programme.

Do I receive a certificate after the course?

You receive a course completion record from Invensis Learning on completing the programme. No formal certification or credential is awarded by an external body, as this is a practical skills course rather than a certification exam.

How is learning assessed on this course?

There is no formal assessment. Instead, you apply DFSS tools such as VOC to CTQ flow-down, QFD, the Pugh matrix and Design FMEA to realistic design scenarios throughout the day, which builds practical, applied capability.

What is the difference between DFSS and DMAIC?

DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve, Control) improves existing processes that are not meeting requirements. DFSS, using the DMADV roadmap, designs new products, services or processes to meet requirements from the start. This course covers DFSS and DMADV.

Will this course make me a certified Six Sigma professional?

No. The course builds practical DFSS skills and does not award a certification. It is an ideal complement to Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt learning for professionals who want to design quality in as well as improve existing processes.

    Course Content

What topics does the DFSS course cover?

The course covers DFSS foundations and the DMADV roadmap, the Define phase (VOC, Kano, project charter), the Measure phase (CTQ flow-down and QFD), the Analyse phase (concept selection and Design FMEA), the Design phase (robust design and DFMA) and the Verify phase (verification, validation and design transfer).

    How long is the training?

The programme runs for one day, a total of eight hours. It covers all six DMADV phases with concept explanations, real-world design examples and hands-on DFSS tool exercises throughout.

Are there hands-on exercises in the course?

Yes. You work through hands-on exercises including VOC to CTQ flow-down, building a QFD House of Quality, using the Pugh concept selection matrix and completing a Design FMEA, all applied to realistic product or process design scenarios.

    Can beginners take this course?

Yes. The course is beginner friendly and introduces all DFSS tools and the DMADV methodology from first principles. No prior DFSS experience is assumed, though basic Six Sigma awareness is helpful.

Which DFSS tools will I learn to use?

You will learn to use voice of the customer capture and the Kano model, CTQ flow-down, Quality Function Deployment (QFD), the Pugh selection matrix, Design FMEA, the P-diagram and robust design, and the design scorecard for verification.
