Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

The PMI Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP) is PMI's specialist credential in project risk management. It recognises expertise in identifying and assessing risks, mitigating threats and capitalising on opportunities. It is designed for risk specialists, senior project managers and PMO professionals who focus on risk across projects and programmes.

    General

What is the PMI-RMP certification and who is it for?

The PMI Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP) is PMI's specialist credential in project risk management. It recognises expertise in identifying and assessing risks, mitigating threats and capitalising on opportunities. It is designed for risk specialists, senior project managers and PMO professionals who focus on risk across projects and programmes.

Is the PMI-RMP worth it for professionals in Liverpool?

Yes. Liverpool employers in construction, port and logistics, life sciences and financial services increasingly need certified risk specialists, and the North West has more general project managers than credentialed risk professionals. Certified risk specialists in the UK average around £80,000, so the PMI-RMP offers strong career and earning upside.

Is the PMI-RMP recognised in the UK?

Yes. As a PMI credential, the PMI-RMP is recognised by employers across the UK and worldwide. It is especially valued in high-risk sectors such as construction, energy, infrastructure and financial services, where formal project risk management is often contractually or regulatorily required.

Do I need a PMP before taking the PMI-RMP?

No. A PMP is not a prerequisite for the PMI-RMP. You can apply directly based on your risk management experience and education. Many holders do carry both, as the two credentials are complementary, but the PMI-RMP stands on its own as a specialist qualification.

How long is the PMI-RMP valid and how do I renew it?

The PMI-RMP is valid for three years. To maintain it, you earn 30 PDUs in risk management topics within each three-year cycle through PMI's Continuing Certification Requirements (CCR) system.

    Pricing

How much does PMI-RMP training cost in Liverpool?

Training fees vary by format, such as live virtual, classroom or corporate group delivery. For current pricing and upcoming batches in Liverpool, request a quote or speak with a learning advisor for the option that suits you.

What is included in the PMI-RMP course fee?

The training fee typically includes PMI-aligned courseware, 32 contact hours, practice questions, mock exams, application guidance and learner support, plus a course completion certificate. The PMI exam fee is billed separately by PMI.

Is the PMI exam fee included in the training price?

No. PMI bills the exam fee separately in USD under regional pricing, and it is around USD 520 for PMI members and USD 670 for non-members (for reference; verify current fees at pmi.org). PMI membership can reduce the exam cost. Ask an advisor for a quote on training.

Do you offer corporate or group discounts for PMI-RMP training?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for project, programme and PMO teams. Contact us for a tailored quote for your team in Liverpool.

What payment methods and instalment options are available?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, and offer instalment options on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that works best for you.

    Exam

What is the format of the PMI-RMP exam?

The PMI-RMP exam is a closed-book, multiple-choice examination based on the PMI-RMP Examination Content Outline effective January 2022. It uses single-answer and multiple-answer questions across five risk management domains, delivered online proctored via Pearson VUE OnVUE or at a test centre.

How many questions are on the PMI-RMP exam and how long is it?

The exam has 115 questions and you have 2.5 hours (150 minutes) to complete it. It is closed book and delivered as multiple choice.

What are the PMI-RMP exam domains and their weights?

There are five domains under the January 2022 ECO: Risk Strategy and Planning (20%), Risk Identification (20%), Risk Analysis (23%), Risk Response (22%) and Monitor and Close Risks (15%).

What is the passing score for the PMI-RMP exam?

PMI uses a psychometrically determined passing score that is not published as a fixed number. Results are reported as pass or fail, with domain-level feedback of Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement, so aim for broad mastery across all five domains.

What if I do not pass the first time, can I retake it?

Yes. PMI permits up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period from application approval. Reexamination fees apply to later attempts; confirm current amounts at pmi.org. Our mock exams and practice questions are designed to support a confident first-time attempt.

    Course Content

What topics does the PMI-RMP training cover?

The training covers all five PMI-RMP domains: Risk Strategy and Planning, Risk Identification, Risk Analysis, Risk Response, and Monitor and Close Risks. It includes qualitative and quantitative tools such as probability-impact matrices, Monte Carlo simulation, decision trees and expected monetary value, plus application and exam strategy.

Does the training satisfy the PMI-RMP education requirement?

Yes for most candidates. The 32 contact hours fully satisfy the 30-hour risk education requirement for Set B (bachelor's degree) and Set C (GAC accredited degree) candidates. Set A candidates need 40 hours and should add at least 8 further hours of risk education.

Are practice tests and mock exams included?

Yes. The programme includes practice questions and full-length mock exams mapped to the 115-question, 2.5-hour format, so you can identify weak areas and build exam readiness before you sit the exam.

Is the courseware aligned to the current PMI-RMP syllabus?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the PMI-RMP Examination Content Outline effective January 2022, and grounded in the PMI Practice Standard for Project Risk Management and the PMBOK Guide, covering predictive, agile and hybrid risk approaches.

Do I need prior experience to take the training?

Anyone can attend the training regardless of experience. To sit the PMI-RMP exam, however, PMI requires documented project risk management experience and education under Set A, B or C. Our advisors can help you check where you stand before you apply.

    Enrollment

What are the eligibility requirements for the PMI-RMP exam?

PMI offers three routes. Set A: secondary diploma plus 36 months of risk experience in the last 5 years and 40 hours of education. Set B: bachelor's degree plus 24 months and 30 hours. Set C: a GAC accredited degree plus 12 months and 30 hours. Experience must be specifically in project risk management.

How do I enrol in the PMI-RMP course?

You can enrol through the Invensis Learning website. Choose your preferred format, complete payment, and you will receive access to schedules, courseware and learning resources. Speak with a learning advisor if you would like help choosing a batch.
