    General

Is the PMI-RMP worth it for a risk career in Leeds?

Yes. The PMI-RMP is PMI's specialist project risk credential, and in a market like Leeds, where financial services, healthtech and infrastructure all need rigorous risk governance, it helps you stand out. PMI-RMP professionals in the UK average around £80,000, and certified risk specialists are scarce relative to the deep project management pool.

What is the PMI-RMP certification and who is it for?

The PMI Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP) is PMI's specialist credential in project risk management. It is designed for project managers, risk analysts, risk consultants and delivery leads who identify, assess, respond to and monitor risk on projects and programmes.

Is PMP required before the PMI-RMP?

No. PMP is not a prerequisite for the PMI-RMP. You can apply directly based on your risk management experience and education. Many professionals hold both, as the two credentials complement each other well.

    Is the PMI-RMP recognised internationally?

Yes. As a PMI credential, the PMI-RMP is recognised by employers globally and is especially valued in high-risk sectors such as banking, insurance, energy, construction and healthcare where formal project risk management is expected.

How long is the PMI-RMP certification valid?

The PMI-RMP is valid for three years. To maintain it, you earn 30 PDUs in risk management topics within each three-year continuing certification requirements (CCR) cycle.

    Pricing

What is included in the PMI-RMP course fee?

PMI bills the exam fee in USD under regional pricing, around USD 520 for members and USD 670 for non-members for reference only. Actual fees vary, so confirm current amounts at pmi.org. Exam

What is the format of the PMI-RMP exam?

The PMI-RMP exam is a closed-book, multiple-choice examination based on the PMI-RMP Examination Content Outline effective January 2022. It covers five risk management domains and includes single-answer and multiple-answer questions.

How many questions are on the PMI-RMP exam and how long is it?

The exam has 115 questions and lasts 2.5 hours (150 minutes). Results are reported with domain-level feedback of Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement.

What are the PMI-RMP exam domains and their weights?

There are five domains per the January 2022 ECO: Risk Strategy and Planning (20%), Risk Identification (20%), Risk Analysis (23%), Risk Response (22%) and Monitor and Close Risks (15%).

What if I do not pass the exam the first time?

PMI allows up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period. Our training includes mock exams and revision support to help you prepare thoroughly, and you can review weak domains before rebooking. Re-examination fees apply to later attempts.

Where can I take the PMI-RMP exam?

You can sit the exam online through Pearson VUE's OnVUE proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre, including centres accessible from Leeds. Scheduling is done through PMI's portal or Pearson VUE once your application is approved.

    Course Content

Do I need prior experience to take this training?

You can join the training at any experience level, and it is well suited to project professionals moving into risk. To sit the PMI-RMP exam, PMI requires project risk management experience and 30 to 40 hours of risk education depending on your eligibility set, which this 32-hour programme helps satisfy.

What topics does the PMI-RMP training cover?

The training covers all five ECO domains: Risk Strategy and Planning, Risk Identification, Risk Analysis, Risk Response, and Monitor and Close Risks, plus risk tools such as SWOT, the probability and impact matrix, Monte Carlo simulation and response strategies across predictive, agile and hybrid delivery.

Is the courseware aligned with the current PMI-RMP syllabus?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the PMI-RMP Examination Content Outline effective January 2022 and to PMI's Practice Standard for Project Risk Management, so you study the current, exam-relevant content.

Does this training satisfy the PMI education requirement?

The 32 contact hours fully satisfy the 30-hour risk education requirement for Set B and Set C applicants. Set A applicants need 40 hours and should add at least 8 hours of further risk training to meet the requirement.
