What is the format of the two BA exams?

The Foundation exam is closed book with 40 single-answer multiple-choice questions. The Practitioner exam is closed book with 40 scenario-based multiple-choice questions that test how you apply techniques. Both are aligned to the EXIN BCS Examination Specifications and the BCS Business Analysis Body of Knowledge.

How many questions are on each exam and how long are they?

Each exam has 40 questions and lasts 60 minutes. The Foundation exam tests knowledge and comprehension, while the Practitioner exam tests application and analysis through realistic project scenarios.

What is the passing score?

The passing score for both exams is 65%, which is 26 correct answers out of 40. Passing both the Foundation and Practitioner exams earns you both credentials.

Are there prerequisites to sit the exams?

The Foundation exam has no formal prerequisites and is open to all. The EXIN BCS Foundation Certificate is the recommended prerequisite for the Practitioner level, which is why the combined programme covers Foundation first.

The combined programme is a 32-hour course, typically delivered as four full days, with Foundation content first and Practitioner content after. Schedules can also run over more days at fewer hours per day to suit working professionals.
